Technical Roadster rear window frame

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by alumcantandthd, Mar 14, 2025.

  1. Been reading past Roadster Rear Window Frame posts. Googling 34 roadster rear window frames. Can't really find what I am looking for. Usually run into three catogories. Place is out of business. Quality is down the Johnny Flusher. Or the place that does sells the "mail slots" is out of stock.

Looking for a "Mail Slot" (somewhere around 4" X 24" more or less) stainless outer frame, painted inner frame.

Where do you guys buy such a item?

Have any of you successfully "chopped" a stainless frame ***embly? Question. On the stainless frames. Are "both" halves stainless? I have access to a TIG and stainless rods, and a buffer to polish.
    Thanks

Found an old rear frame at Ted’s salvage barn and chopped it my self. I like it painted but could have been chromed. My cost-$0 first photo shows original inside frame with chopped outside frame. IMG_1693.jpeg IMG_1696.jpeg IMG_1874.jpeg IMG_3615.jpeg IMG_3600.jpeg

  5. GOOD looking top/car!

What I had in mind on chopping a frame, if I could not find a "mail slot". Just wanted to make sure it could be done before I cut up one, then find out it couldn't be TIG'ed

Where did you get the bottom snaps? Were those OEM on the '32 Roadsters?

Those are available. I need to go back in my papers to see where I bought them. Get back to you . I took all the measurements off an original stock roadster. Mine is also 3” chop. IMG_7388.jpeg IMG_7392.jpeg IMG_7391.jpeg

I just bought a pair of 3 inch posts with mirror mount homes on each post from Roadster Supply. Also a chromed 3 inch windshield frame. Dam good quality. Sid used that window in his Bop Top's Until today I didn't realize what they cost. I used to get a polished stainless version of what your looking for from Le-baron for about $300. It was sure nice. Another source for a shiny one might be Speed 33 he uses them in his tops?
