You could post a picture of ANY car out there , ask what should be changed, and would get 100 different opinions. It wouldn't matter if it was a perfect car, we just all have different views, which is why this is called car building, not car cloning, I guess.

As for your car, I like it a lot. To me it has an old time feel to it, something that if it were in the little books in black and white we would all be saying, don't change a thing. But since you asked, here is my opinion (which, when combined with a buck will get you a cup of McDonald's coffee :))

The yellow frame and interior inserts jump out at me a little, as some others mentioned. The wheels not so bad, but then there would be nothing to tie them to the car. They say two colors on a car are ok, 3 is too many, so I would pick a color for the wheels that you could incorporate into the inserts too. The frame would look so much better in black, like the body IMO.

Love the Y block, but the motor room is too long. I don't like the photoshopped one, too short I think. This car could use the axle out front, but I would chop at least the length of the fan spacer out of the frame and move the perch back that far. Motor needs a couple more of those 2 barrels sitting up there.

Windshield might look better if it didn't have a metal top frame on it, but just the edge of the gl***. Like if you chopped off the metal top and had the gl*** shortened to run straight across there.

I'd clean up the firewall and get the coil and all the other stuff hidden, or at least moved to the intake. The coiled brake line would look better if it were not coiled but neatly run down the firewall.

Finally, the dash is ok, but needs to be body color. But as I said, all in all, not a bad little hot rod as is.

I agree, Move the front wheels and rad. back. Put the other 2 carbs on the 3 deuce intake already on it even if they are dummies. Change the wheel color & loose the yellow.

I would still drive it even if it wasn't changed.

s**** steel pays well down here. just kidding. but IMO shorten the front end, run side exhausts, and figure a new windshield out and its pretty much good.

Looks like it is built out of rectangular tubing? If so, strip everything down to bare frame (after you do some figuring to see how much can be removed and still leave engine, fan, etc room). I imagine you don't have a frame jig, so if you temporarily tack weld some box tubing across the rails behind where you will be cutting it off, it will keep things from moving around.

Cut the frame off and build a new front crossmember. Get it all leveled up, then weld the new member in place. You will have to shorten your wishbones (bungs are $20 from Speedway) and also your draglink. I would leave the suicide front end, the car would look stubby with it under the radiator IMO.

I know you have 15 different opinions here....

I would shorten the front frame section til everything is tight, get rid of that crazy yellow stuff, flip the whites, and tone it DOWN.

Get a short T model windshield from Speedway.

Outside of what you could do in a weekend with a few friends, I'd leave the rest of it alone and drive the hell out of it.

It's a cool car, regardless of what it was made from. Enjoy it....!

Look up my 27 build. I basically did what you need to do. I'll have updates this week too.

  14. It that thing part VW? Like as in the doors and rear quarters? The me the cowl should flow differently. I'm not sure how, but should be different.

I might go for more rubber rake, too.

to me i would shorten frame, pain the frame black.. if you not gonna keep it leave the paint interior how it is.. just paint frame black.. there is nothing special about the frame to make it be the first thing you notice. after you shorten the frame.. i would get a diffrent rad shell. id give it more of a hot rod look by a rake.. banjo steering wheel.. and thats all iw ould do to her.. i think the body is nice. the windsheild needs to be slanted.. it looks rather crude to the body.. so maybe just go with a regular 27 windsheild pillers if you can. then id drive her, looks like a fun ride :)

of course this all means nothing its what you want.

if you are gonna keep it, i def would get rid of the yellow.. and go with a worn brown interior.. and a longer shifter with a nice shift knob. :)

as belly ****on as it sounds i would go with a 32 shell, i dun think a 34 would look good.. i like the 32 rad shell and 34.. probably would need to be shorten tho.. maybe the top part of the hood with some louvers too. to tye the rad shell and the body together.. t hat is cool he used a vw for part of the body.. they did such a good job im surprised they did such a crude windshield..

good luck on whatever you do.. i do understand why no one bought it how it is now.. 1 out of 30 will like it how it is now. but i think with a little work you will have one cool ride.. and one of a kind :)

well i went back to look at the car again.. never mind the rad shell is fine.. i would add the top part of the hood with lovers and the leather tye down straps they sell.. that would tie the front of the car to the body.. yupp. good luck.

In todays market I think that is pretty optimistic. A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay, and since no one has come near that figure that should tell you something. Personally, if you were able to get $6K it would be a good offer IMO. People are going to consider that it isn't a real Ford or similar body, and that will bring down the price.

Not trying to hurt your feelings, just an opinion.

You will have a tough time getting $10,000 for it even after you do a bunch of work. It has a pieced together body. What are the parts worth? Keep on lowering the price tell it sells without putting any more time into it. Someone will buy it when you get down to around $4000.

The suggestion to replace the body is a good one. There are many makes and models other than Ford to use. A $1500 or less dollar body from a Dodge, Chevy, Durant, or any other with the combination would gather you more looks and buyers. Even a Fibergl*** Roadster body would pull it together. $10,000.00 is unrealistic in todays market for the car as is. Lose the VW aspects it's confusing the rest of the cool parts. I love VW's but as VW's. Best bet might be to just enjoy it, nothing sells a car better than a smiling owner who looks like he's having too much fun in it.

    Good luck,

    Tim
