Anybody have photos of the top bow mounts in a '33-34 roadster? I have the bows and top that were on the 'glass body I got, and the bows don't appear to fit on the mounting plate in the body. I think the bows are repos, chromed, two rear mounting arms each side, and two mount holes in the body, but are there shims between the arm and body? Damned kit came with no instructions ;-)

Stock irons are as you noted and bolt to two bungs in the side panels. I never used shims but you could.

To look good on a hot rod, the center bow needs to be flattened or it sticks up too far. My Wescott body had correct bungs and the top bolted right in without shims.

Gearhead has the best top for my taste. He flattened the bows to get the shape.

So I've got the top iron attatcced to the wrong place (I used one in the door post)? This was ( supposedly) the top that was on this car... I feel dumb, but I'm still not seeing where it should be, there must be some bracing or mount area missing now in the body, because both the arms mount about further back in the body, don't they? Haha, if Shamus's photos weren't so blurry I could tell! Thanks for the photos guys, it really helps. Pewsplace, your car is killer!

I can't find the correct photo of a Gibbon body I worked on, but I don't think it had any mounts for the top so we made some. Here are some more reference photos of stockers and one Gibbon.

You can see the metal plates in this photo.

Here is the Gibbon I worked on. Note the two holes in the side for stock irons.

Another photo of a stock 34 roadster inner metal structure which yours doesn't have.

Thanks, that's a huge help. Looking at my body (well, not MY body, which is probably worse than the roadsters) it's now obvious that somewhere in the cars checkered past the bracing has been cut out that would support the top, seat back and trunk opening. Now that I know where the top is supposed to mount, I can make the right bits.

Here are a couple of photos of the Wescott body mounting bungs I was talking about. They mount the stock irons which I didn't use. I made my own top and mounts.

These two photos show the stock mounting positions for the top's 2 irons.

These shouldn't be hard to add to your body using some steel tubing and plate.
