Zach has exceeded the legal fun limit for fiscal 2013-14 and needs to spend the rest of the year changing mufflers on Datsun trucks and mowing the lawn for penance.

    Zach:

    Awesome job!

You need to replace the detent and spring. That is a common issue with roundy, roundy guys back in the day. If you look closely in some of the dirt track cars, there will be a hook that holds the stick in 2nd.

My '34 coupe racecar has a hook on the dash for 2nd gear... was on from when it raced....
not so hot for a car you might drive on the street though

Bruce, I don't know about that... might shoot for covering '15 & '16 later this year!

Awesome, yes, but you guys are nuts.
Having been a National-level road racer and long-time EMT all I see is those heads sticking up above the cowl with a not roll bar in sight. Fatal accident waiting to happen.

Ever see what happens when an open wheel car meets another open wheel car?

I'll take the sprint car with the nerf bars, thanks!

Just love all the mechanical sounds going on in that video. Was that a bit of a "bump and run"? Looks like it is more fun that one should be legally allowed to have.

    Nice.

Man oh man, I love it. I went to the Jalopy Showdown this year for the first time and fell in lust with that location. :D

This is a controlled speed event... technically 40mph.... I have no idea what speed we were going but I would guess not a whole lot more then that averaged out... if you noticed we're not going fast down the straight aways..
That was the nice thing with the black midget going faster.. we knew we weren't pushing to hard for the rules if he was faster then us... not that we could keep up with him if we wanted to!

We surely were not intending on bumping each other... there was a big dirt pile on the inside where we bumped... so I couldn't move over any more then that. He had thought I was going to go on the outside and tried to move over....

It sure adds to the story though with a little bumping coming down to the checkard flag!

I think the feeling towards the rollbars or roll cages is that.. without them, you feel unprotected and you drive accordingly... when your in a bubble of tubing... you feel like you can push it... which is how other people get hurt, spectators and other compe***ors...

Trust me we would love to have been able to go a little faster... but Latimore is not the place for it.... This group runs at other local tracks with safe guardrails and better equipped personel... This was strictly a photo oppertunity and an excuse to get dusty...

Very cool! Wish there was something like this down here. I'm a bit surprised to hear you were only running in the 40's...the open ****pit experience sure makes it seem much faster!
