I've been having trouble with those cheap ass pumps you get at the parts store. Does anybody make the good leather ones? Gas just eats these cheap ones up. Thanks for some help. VA
Put the blue rubber plunger off a qjet pump on your 2jet pump rod will solve your problems with the harsh gas.
I've been having the same issue with 2 projects I'm involved with a 55 ElDorado (2-4 jets) and my father-inlaws boat (twin 215 Buicks with 4 jets). Last night I put new pumps in the Cadillac but switched the cups to viton, the blue ones. He got the parts at Napa, only problem was the viton cups require the coil springs inside for support and the Napa's didn't come with them. Luckily we had old ones to put in. I bought Standard/Hygrade viton cups for the boat and they came with the springs, plan on installing those this weekend. From what I've read viton is supposed to be the answer, Cadillac ran great last night but time will tell.
