I didn't want to hi jack the thread regarding rochestor 2g's , but I did lift this image from the thread. The carb on the right- on the rear of the carb body has what I've heard referred to as the " hot idle compensator" device. It's my understanding that the device was added to these roch. 2 bbl's to aid in having a good idle while the engine was hot and the air condition was on, My question('s) - is what I've read correct? and also, if a roch 2g has the hot idle compensator , is it still a good carb to use, or should it be avoided for multi carb set ups? Thank you you for your input in advance.
The one on my girl friends 67 283 in her 56 Chevy that I transplanted has it. It came from a smoged California Chevelle no air conditioning. After looking at how it’s plumbed I decided to just plug off that circuit.
I have a 307 in an el camino with the rochester 2 bbl. that has this. It's vacuum operated and i think its supposed to help with cold engine starts--like keeping enough air flowing for a smooth idle (using vacuum, not temperature) until the engine reaches temp. If you still have the auto choke, i'd keep it.
