Has anyone tried to adapt the Rochester 2g carbs to an Edelbrock 3x2 intake manifold. I am curious if it can , or has been done. I am tired of fighting these Holly 94 carbs, and their sensitive fuel pressure problems and the temperamental vac. signal problems. Anyone, anyone have any thoughts?
Yes I did it. I bought 3 two piece adapters off the bay and 3 identical Rochester 2GC’s from Chuck Price with side fuel fittings. I had to get a little creative with the center choke housing as things were tight. I also ran them progressive. I only ran a short time and like an idiot took no photos. I wanted dual quads and the manifold and two came right after I got it running. I was in the process of making an air cleaner like the 348 Chev but didn’t finish it. I wanted it to look like a factory piece I sold it to a guy installing a Y in a 51 Merc for $1100. I never heard back from him.
Lumpy 63, and jimmy six. Thank you for your information, it gives me something to think about. Anyone else have any infoor thoughts?
I do not know if this is helpful or even relevant, but I put three 2GCs on a small block [302]. I had to turn them around backwards so they would clear the front mounted distributor. I used the lower kickdown link for throttle hookup.
if the base on the intake is a square base, you can just simple drill and tap the intake to make the carbs fit, if not a simple plate spacer works. When my grandfather and I have built 6x2 setups we make adaptors and all the the 6x2 manifolds are set for 3 bolt carbs. All you need to do is run longer studs for the 2 bolts at the front as its the same spacing as the 2GC, you counter sink the hold for the rear bolt to secure the plate to the intake then drill and tap for the rear 2 stud to mount the 2GC. You can use a base gasket for both carbs as templates to mark the holes for mounting and for the butterflies. We usually then cut the plate to mimic the 2GC base. Here is pic where you can see the adaptors in progress for the 6x2s on Taboo.
Frenchtown Flyer, I do not think there will be a distributor clearance problem, the dist. is in the rear, but turning the carbs backwards may be an option. Thanks
Taboo56Chevy, Thanks for your information and insight, also thanks for the picture, your work looks great.
