If everything's in spec, you may have a vacuum leak somewhere. With the motor at idle, I would spray some starting fluid around the base of the carb and the port runners of the manifold. Some people use WD-40, but I hate clean-up.

Had the exact same problem back when I was running that carb. I had purchased an nos kit on ebay, rebuilt the carb, and checked it again and again, then I noticed the cup on the accelerator pump had dissolved itself seemingly the moment gas hit it, guess it was on a shelf for a little while! I improvised using the cup from a modern q jet and it worked fine.
If thats not your prob it does sound like vacuum leak, if theres no leak double check all p***ages in the carb especially the squirters. I like to use compressed air and do it over a clean piece of paper or cardboard to see what comes out. Recently I rebuilt my buddy's 1bbl off his 51' chev which his complaint was exactly yours, sure enough I found what appeared to be a tiny glob of silicone in the jet. Car ran good for three days and started at it again, I took it apart again, same damn thing! So I got under the car and found that the genius that installed his (still not working) sending unit gobbed silicone all over the line threads!

If your idle circuit is working your problem will be with the accelerator pump or accelerator pump circuit. Make sure that it pumps as soon as you move the throttle linkage. If it does not check the plunger and the linkage. On many carbs you can adjust [or bend] the linkage so that the pump will react sooner eliminating off idle bogg.

Hone the pump barrel til smooth. Make sure the check ball ins't stuck & is the right one. If the kit had a leather pump piston, replace it with neoprene. As mentioned, all slack must be taken out of the pump linkage. Advance the timing til it spark knocks, then back it off.
