Just in case anybody can take advantage of this...here is a current (expires midnight May 30th, 2025) RockAuto 5% savings code. It's not a great saving, but it helps towards the shipping costs. Code# 299944164265227592 Just enter this code number in the "How did you hear about us?" line.
Good timing that just saved me $8. Now if only pulling the 283 back out to fix a leaking rear main seal was that easy.
Good source for regular parts where you get to chose the brand and price point. Usually quick shipping. When ordering multiple parts, keep an eye on items coming from different warehouse locations as it results in higher shipping costs.
I hate it when that happens...I assume you checked all the other oil sources back there...distributor, intake, valve civers, oil pressure sensor? Anything to avoid removing the engine again.
They can have a lot better prices than the regular auto parts store. The total price includes all the shipping and duties to get the parts into Canada so that’s nice
it’s a small leak but its definitely the rear seal. Unfortunately the new throw out bearing is squeaking when cold so I have a have to fix that. Either the diff comes back to get the transmission out or the engine comes out. I figured might as well pull the engine to both at the same time. The Rock Auto order has the one pice an gasket and Rear seal I will need
My wife’s truck just had a caliper lock up after hitting a bump ( broke a slide pin bolt and the pistons shattered on dis assembly ) Emergency repair thanks to Advance Auto. One caliper, one rotor and the cheapest pads sold was a shade under $400. I shopped similar parts at Rock auto and it would have been under half with shipping factored in.
Sure wish I would have had that discount code last month. I had a $200+ order. Everything came from the same warehouse! The total shipping was only $13. Watch which warehouse parts in orders with multiple parts comes from, it kills the shipping cost. Different parts come from different warehouses, select parts so they come from one or two warehouses, and you will probably save 40% from buying from local parts stores. I don't buy anything from them that has a core cost (unless I'm willing to consider the core cost as part of the cost of the part), and if there is a higher chance of getting anything that may need to be returned, I will buy locally. Any return shipping will kill any cost savings.
