We attended the lonestar round and had an absolute blast and will be back for sure. While we were there we called by the rockabilly magazine stall and subscribed, with international postal rates added. We have emailed the address in Austin for the magazine twice but there seems to be no one .'customerservice@rockabillymagazine.com' Can anyone shed some light please.

  4. Good mag, but not worth it for only 4 issues a year.

  5. Hm, I'm just trying to imagine, what this magazine could be all about.
    Alot of how to's.......... :)
-Tips and tricks on how to do your hair, the 12 hour pompadour.
-How to create your own fake sailer tattoo sleeves.
-Readers rides, 4 doors only, duh.
-How to be cool at Mooneyes, even without a car.
-8" velcro cuffs for your pants.
    -Fat pin-up chick centerfold.
-How to put together a car club with one rat rod and 45 of your friends.

I don't understand where the publishers are going with this magazine. Its named after a particular genre of obscure music yet half the time the artists on the cover have absolutely nothing to do with Rockabilly.

Might be something of the past but i have every issue of Continental Restyling and Blue Suede News. I used to look forward to every issue. Of course those were times of pre internet.

I wish I could get ahold of some copies of CR. I've read some of my friends old copies and every one seemed to be full of great stuff.

no...it is about music. But you proved your point how you think all that stuff is stupid even though some people enjoy it. Perhaps you could list all the things that you think are cool and we could all go by that.

  13. Or maybe you could get a clue and not question someone who has one of the badest cars on this site and knows full well what is going on. Chris has been around a long time in the scene well before Via or any other event like via was ever around.

I get so tired of all the jonnies that come around here acting like they know all that has bee going on. I can't wait for this scene to go back underground when we cut up 4 doors and station wagons for parts to build hot rods.

Hmmm........ forming an opinion without reading something? Better fit some blinkers on that sweet Model A you got!

I think it's weird when a H.A.M.B member comes on asking for help/advice, and they are attacked for liking something other members DON'T!
Kiwi didn't put up a post then ask everyone's opinion, he reached out to, what he thought, were the like minded "friends" of this community to see if anyone could help him.
Just thought maybe that's what forming "communities" was all about?
People asking advice and others helping?

  21. See another jonnie that does not read the entire post. We are not attacking the original person who posted about the magazine that is being written about but the people who support the magazine and think it has something todo with hot rodding which is does not.

I'm a Rockabilly b*** player, and I approve this message.

I had a friend tell me a while back that the whole rockabilly scene was getting so popular because it let's normally ugly women put on come clothes, do their hair, get tattoos and suddenly they're viewed as hot. I disagreed until I started looking a little bit closer. Of course, I have never been one to take myself too seriously anyway.

    It's a two way street!
A lot of Rockabillies can't stand the Hot Rodders at VLV.
I think a lot of the "new" Rodders feel they "have" to ***ume the Rockabilly look
    to be "in" or something.
    What a crock.

Damn that was painful ! I am still snickering to what you posted ! That's a good one Chris !
But truthfully , what can the mag really have ? It's a life style that they missed that allot of us grew up in . Hell they called me a hippie with long hair back in the late 60's and early 70's and now you go into your local Hell mart and all the kids cloths have piece signs and Ty die shirts . I guess we can get to relive our youth all over again and still fit in . Now how kool is that ?
I really don't mind some of the Rockabilly music but just seems to be too much Green Day fast beat **** to me .

But let's think about it , how many more car mags can be stuck in that small rack at the book store ? I have never seen one on the mag stands yet so is there really a mag being made and where are they to really see what they look like ?

Hmmm............ there's your post in full.
Can you point out where you claim it's aimed at the supporters of the mag and not a reply to the original post?
Or is there a special "HAMB Old Timers Secret Code" I'll be able to read when I get my post count up?

Wow, I'm sort of disappointed in the response that Kiwi 4D got asking for help on his magazine subscription. Living in New Zealand coming to the U.S. and subscribing to a magazine here in the states and never getting it, has to be frustrating. I think that's why he was reaching out for help or suggestions.

I'm not really into the rockabilly and think it's off subject, but I do appreciate the music and understand that some do not have the knowledge, money and resources to build a traditional hot rod.
I think that's why a lot of them are into dressing the part. They can't afford to do the car part.

I've been blessed with a good job and had my Dad at an early age teach me the mechanical ability to build, fix and work on all types of cars and mechanical machinery. For that I'll never forget him.

Some never had the opportunity. Just my 2 cents.

Rockasilly magazine has nothing to do with trad***ional hotrods and customs so this entire thread is off topic and belongs in the "who gives a ****" file.

    There is a scene?

  29. There ya go jonnie. And viva was always about the music and not the cars. we drove our cars too get to the show. There was no car show till tom ingram came to Axle of the shifters and asked him to put on the car show. Then the jonnie's came with **** cars tough boy at***ude and it went to ****. So what I am saying is take you stupid rockasilly magazine that tells you how to be dumb**** and leave hot rodding to the guys that have been doing it well before car kulture deluxe or any other magazine that caters to the " scene" came along.

  30. Continental Restyling! Now that was a mag. I was in France about 8 years ago and I remember going all over Paris to all the vintage clothes and record stores it listed in one particular issue. Was rad. i then called up Jerry to buy some merch and he invited me round his house to check out his custom 56 Ford and buy merch direct from his warehouse/spare bedroom! HAHA :)
