Man-o-man, does that look great! I don't think that there is one place anywhere on your car without something exceptional to look at. I bet this will look amazing in the sun Dan
Thanks Dan, thats a kind comment coming from someone with such a keen eye, Hopefully sunshine pics to come as soon as the top material goes on. Your car is also looking very swish i must say, Nearly there ???
Amazing build and craftsmanship! The car looks great. Can't wait to see it completely finished and more of your builds in the future. Well done.
Do you mean the gun ??? If so I use a 1.8mm DeVillbiss JGA suction gun for the flake and a 1.6mm DeVillbiss GTI HVLP gun for the lacquer coats.
Thanks, can't seem to capture the pop of the flake in the workshop but using flash i got this effort.
I'm ready to see it outside... and to see/hear a video complete with a big smokey burnout now. Great Googly Moogly... do I like this car!
It will Dan - earlier in the year I visited Steve and on that day the sun was shining through one of the garage windows and the reflection of the sun from part of the chassis dazzled me - and I have reactolite lenses in my glasses! In the flesh the car is Awesome. Pete
After months of deliberation I finally decided on the colour of my steering wheel The striper is coming soon so i will get him to put a little something on the horn push.
great looking work, but i have one question.. Won't that alternator be turning a bit slow? Seems like it won't be charging at all unless you are moving at a decent speed and it won't ever be at engine speed unless you are in top gear.
The alternator is excited as soon as it starts turning as it has a permanent feed to it and a warning light feed, I've used this system before and it works fine.
Ha Ha, and "It never rains in California" Believe it or not, here near Oxford we had the first rain yesterday that I've seen in a month. I'm sure it'll make up for it in the next month though.
So what do you have to do to convert a stock style alternator, or is it a special type to start with?
I'm not completely sure but the small high output Jap alternators have both a 12v feed and a warning light and seem to charge as soon as they start revolving. I was told to use this type for my application by an Alternator guru and they have worked fine for me in the past, Sorry can't help much more
I remember some of the flaked rods we were around back in the day, and people couldn't help touching them to see if the surface really was that rough. They always had this look on their faces that they couldn't believe they were smooth. Your car is one of the finest, best detailed builds to show up here on the HAMB. You have inspired all of us to do a little better.
Wow, what a tremendous build/undertaking-you have many skills, and it shows! Color is green-no doubt about that, the accent white really makes it pop. The attention to detail is enviable, you are a craftsman. I hate to bring this up, but i don't care for the camshaft (but that's just my own taste), i would have gone with a solid chrome tube with some grooves turned into it-then painted those the green. But it is your car, and it is great! Thanks for sharing.
Man ,where did you find the time to build that fabulous rod. You are one great craftsman , you should be very proud with the results of your build.
Thanks for the positive's, they are appreciated, Yes i'm really quite pleased with the end result and its very much like the original concept drawing apart from a few minor details, But i would like to think i can do better and hope my 26T Coupe surpasses this build.
