I have been deciding what motor to fit to the new shop truck, I had a SBC in it, but it looked to small for the engine bay. My other choices were nail head or rocket, today the rocket won.Other than minor firewall issues it fits pretty good.Even some old headers I had out of a 55 Olds fit perfectly. I will keep you all posted on it's progress.
    Cheers Dago :D

It was a 55 2door post, been in Aust since new. I have kept my eye on it for years, every time it comes up for sale I just miss out on it or I don't have the funds.Any way the guy that has it now is going high teck, and I managed to get all the mechanicals of him.:D So you see there is a need for high teck in this modern society, gotter luv the billet guys for something
    Cheers Dago ;)

Cool, at least something good came of it, I would imagine there were only ever private/embasy imports of this kind of stuff into Aussie in the 50's too would be a rare car.
I must look up the bloke with the 55 4dr over here been off the road for 15 or more years (probably 20) I never manage to catch him for a look, but again worth keeping tabs on.

  7. Gotta love it.....very cool.

Neat truck, do you have a colour scheme yet?

    Cheers,

Thanks for the remarks Andrew ,I was thinking of "Dago green",Do you have any sugestions? And to "55olds88," Yes GMH stopped selling Olds here in 1950 ,anything after that were private imports, although there was a Holden dealer called "Stacks" who imported quite a few. There is a 55 "98" coupe for sale in Adelaide at the moment but it came over in the last 12 months
    Cheers Dago :)

There ya go, from the looks over here after WW2 things got thinner on the ground other then the plain jane big 3 stuff, pre WW2 there is a bit of different stuff around, guess they couldn't risk letting the people have too much choice......
Do you have a link to the one for sale ?

  12. What if you had a combination of a 'big' scollop version (kinda like a 'so-cal S.S. scallop, give me time and I'll draw you a version), with the gold 'upper' and the green lower......black wide pinstripe.

    Will talk later, cheers,

The "98" in question was for sale in a "Just Cars Magazine" for 9k, and I believe it has been sold. I will find the picture of it and post it for you. Are there any '49 '50 olds that you know of in New Zealand ? If so, any pics?
    Thanks Dago :)

  14. The new shop truck should be looking and running just fine with that sweet looking olds mill. Good luck with the build and look forward to seeing the finished truck in the future!!! :)

Seymour, Your my hero, :D you would be one of the people I know that knows what a OL396 is,your brain is a library of old car information. The pick up has a hydro out of '62 394 at the moment, but I have a 4spd manual set up I am considering.
