Kind of what happened to me. 2 engines listed on marketplace with 2 separate reasonable prices, showed up for one and seller told me to just take both of them.

 

Does anyone have experience or an opinion about NOS Hepolite Pistons? I came across the possibility to buy a set for a 324 (.040) over here in Germany and thinking of purchasing them.

 

Another thing, since I watched the YT video of Stay Tuned where the guys wrenched on a Olds swapped Studebaker and converted the trans to a LaSalle I asked them for specs of the parts they used. I just want to share here:

Pressure plate:
McLeod 360850
60-70’s ford
11" diaphragm style

Clutch disc:
88-94 super duty truck (non turbo). 11" clutch with 10 spline 1-1/4 input shaft.

If anyone knows the specs of the hydraulic release bearing setup please share.

 

OK. Read through the thread but didn't find the info I need. I have a rebuilt 394 from a '60 Holiday 88. No exhaust manifolds. Bought a pair that were supposed to be '57. Looks like they will bolt on, but the ports are wrong. Anybody know which years will fit these heads? Prefer something to get duals but will use the weird one with a crossover pipe if necessary. I just don't want to buy more that don't fit.

 

Are the ports on the exhaust manifolds too small? I don't have any '59-'60 manifolds to compare to my '57 ones. They changed the exhaust port setup completely in '61.

So, are you saying ONLY '59-'60 will work? Will the '61--64 bolt on & match up? It won't be going back into a '60 Olds, so I don't need them to be original to that car.

your '60 Olds 88 heads should have two bolts at the center exhaust ports.
the '61-'64 heads have three bolts at the center exhaust ports.

 

I read somewhere that to convert a 371 to a spin on filter all I need is an ***embly from a 394. Do all 394 spin on oil filter ***emblies fit a 1958 371?

 

Yes they will bolt on. The only way they MAY not fit is if it has the extra capacity oil pan.

 

Well it has the extra capacity pan which I believe was part of the J2 option, which it also has, so we will see later today or tomorrow if it fits.
What do you do with the 4th hole that the spin on ***embly doesn't have? Put a bolt in it, or is it a blind hole?

 

If it does not work I could be inclined to take it off your hands if possible.
