Here's a site with a bunch of pictures of Olds from the Rocket Fest show held every year on the second week of August. www.rocketfest.com
you and your nephew have some nice oldsmobiles. i have a 55 four door that i just got back on the road. your nephews car is inspiring to get my suspension done and finalize the paint. if you need motor parts like bearings etc... call terril machine in texas they are cheaper than kanter and egge and never had a problem with any of there products .
Hey Dago, Re how many in N.Z. well off the top of my head that I know of (so most of em) 1 54, 5-6 55's I guess 6-7 56's, 4-5 57's a couple of 59's a couple of 60's, doesn't seem to be much early 50's around but a few 34's and the like and then a few later 60's up too. Another pic of mine.
Well here in Oz it's very similar. G.M.H. sold them here till 1950, after that they were all private imports. I have owned a few and would love to own a few more I have my eye on. Thanks for your reply Cheers Dago
In fact, now that iv found out my Caddy motor is just a little "pamper" block, Iv got 69 455 Olds to drop where the Cad was gonna rest in the 41 Buick compartment.
I just thought i'd piggyback this thread since it was started on Old's anyway. I'm about to go take a look at a 53 post and a 51 "undetermined year and model" Both Old's, and i guess he has some other goodies sitting around too. I love the "un-explored" desert parts. I'll post of my findings later.
Drag-strip shot is way cool, love the moon tank and no front bumper. Drooling over a 49' Futuramic fastback on e-gay, but until then I'm stuck with this here 64' Starfire. Really do love this car, hardly ever see yourself at any carshows. Warmed over 394 (.030 over = 399 cubes) Fully m***aged heads and hot cam from Egge. Should be pretty healthy, hoping to drop it in this week if I can coax Nads to help, I'll supply the PBR. Glad to see so many Olds' fans out there, especially across the big pond. JT P.S. Wish the Rocket roadster was mine, but I like it none the less. Think I found the picture from Detroit Auto show
This was me about 8 years ago. Had a '66 425 w 3 2s. Kinda wish I knew just how rare those tri-powers were before I sold her...... -Abone.
Grabbed my digital and the batteries were dead! So i had to do it prehistorically with a coventional camera! How wierd it felt taking them with that old camera. (Just goes to show you how programed we get with the computers and all. Anyway, i'll let you be the judge of whether or-not it was a waist of time. Ok , the 53 was not, and turned out to be a 50 which wouldnt have bothered me except for the fact that it looked like it rolled over a couple times. Still almost all there so i had plenty of good parts but he wanted to sell the cars complete, at complete car prices! The other was not even an Olds, it was a 54 Pontiac that looked like it may have been the car that smacked the Olds! This one had been picked over pretty good. It lacked a drivers door, trunk, the hood was like a potato chip and most of the front sheetmetal was a loss. Some interior goodys but again, "complete car price". I did score a couple taillight backing/housings from a 30's vintage car, a pair of 396 flags from a tweaked chevelle front end, and a pair of 40 chevy headlight pods (pretty rough, but workable) Theres some other stuff out there but this was kinda a consolation prize for driving all the way out there. I'll go back with some talkin money in a couple weeks.
Just thought I'd sneak this one in of my "88" complete with 324 & tri power, before it's drag racing career, It will return back to this style once i get this drag racing bug off my chest. Cheers Dago.
Hey Dago!!!.....i'm Not Real Bright And Haven't Figured Out How To Post Any Pics Yet An It's Really Not Ready, But ........soon!!!! While I'm Thinking About It, How's Things At Kings Cross????.....back In '64 I Got To Sit In And Play B*** With Billy Thorpe And The Aztecs!....at The Time Their Drummer Was A Guy Named Cullen And I've Always Wanted To Find That Guy....he Was Really Cool! Actually, I Met Some Beautiful Ladies Down There Also (almost Got Married!).............rock & Roll!!!!!!
Well Wolfie you must be about my age, andI must be smarter than you because I can't do this **** either. What you do is get a teenager to do it, in my case it's my daughter.Of course you know Billy is in the states now, I was fortunate enough to see him here in his heyday & still regard him as one of the best, you are very lucky to have played with him. Nice talking with you cheers from Dago's daughter.
That's a good looking Olds ya got there! I love the no hood look. Ran mine around that way when I had the J2 in it.
Nice looking car Dago! I like the hoodless look also on your car. I'v got an "over the pond, yank type question". I notice that your cars over there look like about 50/50 right and left steer cars. Is that because of the greater influx of project cars brought back from America over the last 20 years? Stupid question......is it alright to drive ambridextrius over there? Just trying to learn a little bit more about my "Down-under bro's". I started selling car parts at Pomona a little over 20 years ago, and the sellers get to go in the night before and camp in their spots. Back then i partied with many an Ozzy over to buy , at that time, mostly Harley's. THOSE GUYS AND GAL"S COULD DRINK!!! Cheers Mate!
Thanks for the compliment Hip. Up untill about 10 years ago you could not get full registration on cars with left hand drive except for club rego where as you could just go out on car club runs. Now we can get full rego on your every day car, but it must be over 25 years old and must be dead stock, although I have been seeing a lot of Rods & Kustoms sneaking through. Nice talking to you, any more questions don't hesitate to ask. Cheers from Dago
My Dad bought a 56' Holiday 88 Coupe brand new! I've give anything to have it today! It rode soooo nice, looked real cool, & would flat-*** run like a bear on the Interstate! Fond memories.
I used to own a '56 4 door hard top whitch I loved, I couldn't imagine what it would be like to ride in a new one. Dago
This thread hasn't moved in three years, there must be a lot of new rocketeers out there. show us more. Cheers Dago
Making another attempt to bring this up. Here is my newly acquired 1956 Holiday Sedan: And my Olds powered truck:
