This was kind of funny, after reading about bleeds find. got me thinking of a 58 394 that I was dealing on about 4 years ago some of you probably remember the post on it.
I'll brief you again in case.

I've got a brand new never installed B&M HYDRO-STICK and was looking for an olds or cad motor to stick in front of it. I found a guy that had a chopped bobbed 34 ford pick-up that was a old drag car from the 60's with a bored and stroked 58 394 displacing 455 cubes. he pulled the olds and installed a 454 chev and has this old olds cluttering up his shop with a 39 ford trans behind it. he said that he had just gone thru the motor and the only time he fired it up he did a smokey burn out up and down his driveway then parked it for 10-12 years (that was 4 years ago).We played phone tag for about 6 months and never got to even look at it. after Bleeds post I started thinking about it again but would have to check my DAY PLANNERS for the last 4-5 years to find his number! 2 days later I'm in this restoration shop putting glass in a beautiful 69 olds 442 and they ask me to put glass in this chopped and bobbed 34 ford pu with a 454 chev in it, YEP! same guy 4 years later and he still has the motor and I have the glass that he needs and he has the motor that I wanted [IMG]

Heres the alert part of the post:
a lot of thing have happened in the last 4 years I gave up my 52 car shop for a 4 car shop, I've sold 12-14 cars (projects) including 2 roadsters that I thought needed this olds motor.I have been in the unloading mode and am planning to retire next year and focus on my HEMI cars and I'm not as excited by this as I was (I have a 55 331 cad motor with 120,000 original miles for the HYDRO-STICK)
No promises but if I get this and it doesn't just" grab me by the throat" I'm probably just going to turn it over to someone that will actually use it. now don't start with the e-mails as its not in my garage yet!

BUT I'll tell you right now if I sell it. Its not just going to the highest bidder (It could happen) I want to see this go to someone that will put it on the road. Peter I don't think "The Queen Mary" could stand this much horsepower [IMG] so if you have a project that needs a rad motor and 39 ford trans (it would have to be a light car, the trans would never hold up if you got traction!) It will be a couple weeks till I have time to the glass on this and we haven't talked price either. so I know nothing for certain YET! film at eleven [IMG]

Gotta love the 394 Olds! In 1963 when I was 15, my dad decided to get a new car, so my brother and I talked him into getting a new Olds 88 with a 394 and a stick shift tranny (via special order). The folks took a train from the Midwest to Lansing Michigan to pick up it up.

That was one going car! It would lay rubber for about an entire city block in first and then chirp and lay more when shifted into second. I'm sure I'm not exagerating by too much. Went through tires and clutches something fierce. Sure wish I had that car today!

mkay, this is my 1952 kaiser chopped and everything that i have both a 303 rocket and a 371 rocket j2 for but as the 371 is much better in condition and dont need as much work i will most likely use the 371 and hydramatic in this car.. i was planning to run my 303 with mcculloch supercharger but somehow mysterically my supercharger parts was lost somehow. ... also got a 1950 manual olds trans to use with the 303, eitherway both rockets will go in my 2 kaisers, anyhow i sure dont want a collum shift sure would prefer to have floor shift on both so [IMG]

and a B&M HYDRO-STICK!! sure would make this car rock even more [IMG] man that would be an real awesome adition to add into this car wohooo [IMG]

oh darn, just the thought of maybe having a 371 with B&M HYDRO-STICK in that car made my day today whooo, its all about details, that makes a car so much more intresting... especially since i prefer to build with rare and cool stuff, like how happy i was when i found my supercharger parts after over one year hunt was happy for weeks after i bought them and was really looking forward to getting them but oohno they got lost arghh ah well hard to let that go but anyhow was as happy when i found the complete 1950 olds (lasalle) manual trans to use with the car, sadly the loss of the mcculloch stuff kinda made it even sour to think about the engine anyhow decided to use the 371 now ..
still i do wonder what ever happend to my supercharger stuff, i sure didnt do anything wrong for them to disapear...

    lookin good
but you have to re-read my post, the rocket motor that I might just send down is a 394 stroker motor (455 cubes) I have the Hydro-stick in line for one of my projects behind a 55 cad 331
the 394 has a 39 ford trans, but I think I have that sold all ready if it doesn't go with the motor.this is one that I was dealing on 4-5 years ago and it just popped into my life again at a time that I trying to run out of projects.
the Hunt and chase is always there! I can't help myself, to many years as a scrounger. old habits are hard to break [IMG]

something that would make the deal a "fur shure you get it" would be a trade that included a HYDRO floor shifter and a HYDRO to HEMI adapter [IMG] [IMG]

(real hectic day at work i tell you ouch!!!)
.. i belive i only read the upper part of your post i thought you was going to get rid of the b&m hydrodstick because you found an engine with that 39 trans behind it [IMG]

in that case i dont really need the 39 trans..
