I plan to put my '56 Super 88 2 Dr sedan up for sale at the Goodguys Pomona gig next month. But it'll break my heart if some local buys it and slaps a pinche 350/350 chevie into her and adds 20" dubs, like some doinks tell me they'd do if she were theirs. And I'd have to see it around. So, I'll list it on the HAMB first. But if a Rocketeer or someone who wants to become one, takes it, I'd let it go at a pretty good price. I'll take some photos tomorrow and try to size them for here. If that doesn't work, I can email them direct. It's a nice car, I drive it all the time. Pix of it have been on here and on DRD57's site. I know it's stupid to sell it at a better price to someone who'll keep it a true Rocket, but after what those********S at GM did to Olds, I feel like I have to. I'd consider a partial trade, I guess, but I really need money for the '49 98 I'm building.

PS: It's not on the classifieds because I want some input from some Rocketeers. It's too******en not to go to a good home.

    Thanx, Phil

So, is it a 324 with the slant-pan hydro? Got a photo to post? I'd love a 56 tudor. Once had a 56, 98 rag top in high school when everybody else had 55-57 chevys and phords.

  3. Here's mine, sorry bout the wheels, at least they're not Dubs.

Rocky, it has the 324 with a damn ol' Jetaway. It shifts OK but if you heat the Rocket up you'd want the slanty. I'll shoot some pix in the morning and see if I can post 'em. If you're in a hurry to see it, go to drd57.hypermart.net. Click on: Early Times Mid-Winter Rod Run. Page 2 pic 2

Nice sedan Johnny. Still running the Kettering? Only 5,465 of these made. I wish I had a big barn to keep it in, I hate to park it outside.

Kind of a shame to get rid of it, I know. I think I'll find it a good home here. I need the money to get my '49 Holiday Hardtop together. It's a semicustom built around '57-'60 I think. Nosed, decked, shaved handles, melted springs, faded Coronado Red with Naugahide about .5" thick. I've got a fresh 303 for it. Only 3,006 of these made. The fact that it's shaved and dropped gives the restoration fellas both the Vapors AND the Fantods. heh heh

one good thing to come out of a 350/350 swap is that it might go to a hotrodder that runs without a hood though

even if it sometimes can be sad if someone removes cool engines and replaces them with 350/350 combos
atleast most of the time they sell away the stuff they remove so often here is good coming out of it

but if i had a 1956 olds i sure would prefer to run the 324 in it if i would remove it i would probally put a 371 or 394 in it instead [IMG]

  11. Yep, 324 with a Jetaway. The Jetaway shifts great, but is leaking REALLY BAD! I found a guy who will reseal it for $750, pretty high. I may try and do it myself but the idea of swimming in******* fluid in my driveway is not too appealing, to me or the landlord. Any good******* guys you know of in LA?

Your blue super 88 is in the LA area? I thought I'd seen all the '56s around south LA county. Where are you from? Tim's Transmision in Norwalk knows the old stuff pretty well. He prefers that you bring him the*******, but he's not the fastest guy either. I put up with the leaking for now. Is your car lowered?

PM me if you want to. Neccessity has made me learn where to get things done on these old Rockets.

Sorry to***** in, but for the last like 2 years there's been a Buick 2dr hardtop sitting at this car dealership here in town rotting away (no side glass). I don't know exactly what model, but I'm pretty sure it's either a '55 or '56, and it's white and green with 3 portholes per side. I'd be happy to take pics and get more info if anyone wanted to get it outta there.
