I am in need of some of the Rockford, Illinois or surrounding Hambers on some ***istance on getting some headers that I bought. The guy I bought them from is Steve Soderberg---I believe he ownes Steve's Concrete aned Excavating. I sent him the payment through Western Union and he claimed that my headers were going to be shipped out the next day. It's been almost 3 weeks and no headers and eveytime I call he says--I'm out salting the parking lot or I left the tracking number at the house or shop. Sometimes he won't even answer. I have an address and 3 phone numbers but he still won't tell me anything. I know he is a big 1955-57 chevy guy and I thought maybe someone here might know him or of him and could lend me a little ***istance. If anyone does know him and could get my headers I would pay them for their time and shipping them to me. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks Guys--Aaron

  2. Almost 3 weeks since you sent the money or since he said they were shipped ? Alot of guys use Parcel Post through the post office and it seems to be about as fast as sending stuff by covered wagon. Personally I normally use Priority mail or UPS but that's just me. If the guy is running a business he may just be really busy and not all that fast when it comes to his hobby. If you're absolutely sure you've been ripped off that's another story but I find it hard to believe the guy would risk his reputation over the cost of a set of headers. If that is the case maybe the next call should be to make him aware that you're going to pursue charges through his local police department.

Bandit--Yea--3 weeks since he said they were shipped. I can understand being busy but he keeps telling me they should have been here by now. They are Fenderwell exit headers so UPS is where he said he shipped them. I don't really want to call the guy a scam but his past history that I have found has me a little worried. I just posted this hoping that someone here knows him and could give him a call for me or verify that they have been shipped. He almost refuses to give me any kind of tracking or anything to help find them. He just says--They have been shipped and that is when he doesn't send me to voicemail. Keeping my hopes up!!!

Refuses to give you a tracking number??? That is a red flag. We have had some pretty bad weather here in the last week, but prior to that it was decent enough to get about.

  9. No tracking number = not shipped. Western Union is a scam flag to me. Maybe you should tell him someone will be coming by to pick them up or get your money back and he should plan accordingly.

Is this your guy? If so, he is not new to shady business dealings.... allegedly, of course.

    ROCKFORD —
Rockford police said they arrested two recyclable metal dealers last week for not keeping proper records of metal sales and will continue to make periodic checks of similar businesses throughout the Rock River Valley to curb copper thefts.
Rockford Police Deputy Chief Greg Lindmark said Tuesday morning that the arrests from last Friday are part of an ongoing compliance program.
“Copper thefts are all over. When people steal it, they got to have an outlet for it,” Lindmark said. “That’s why these purchasers are required by law to keep records of their copper purchases and who they buy from.”
Lindmark said copper thefts are common throughout the city, particularly at new construction sites and abandoned homes.
Several dealers in Rockford and Winnebago County were checked last week to make sure they complied with the Copper Purchase Registration Ordinance and IVC S**** Processors and Recyclable Metal Dealer code. Detectives from the Rockford Police and the Winnebago County sheriff’s departments participated in the sting.
Steve M. Soderberg, 44, of Steve’s, 222 18th Ave., in Rockford; and Kris S. Ary, 27, of Erickson Metal Inc., 5383 Swanson Road, in Roscoe were cited for failure to keep records.

The dude still won't answer his phone. The voicemail message is enough to make him sound like a drunk waste. I think he sees my number and just lets it go. He always has an excuse why he can't get to the tracking number. As soon as I catch him by surprise, I will let him know that someone will be there to pick up my headers. I have his business address and phone number. I tried to google map but can't get the right angle?? The business is Steve's Concrete and Excavating 1720 Charles Street, Rockford, Illinois 61104. I am a very easy going guy but you can tell he is just lying about shipping them. He is currently selling some 56 Chevy stuff on egay--his id is CONCRETE1957

I saw that also when I googled the guy. It really seems like the same guy but could possible be another steve soderberg in rockford. I did also find that he has a complaint by the BBB on his business.

I hear ya 8-track.. I was going to pay by paypal or postal money order but his excuse was paypal had his account in negative status due to some guy that retracted his deposit on a car he sold?? and as for the postal money order-- he claimed that he needed the money that day to pay for a car coming in and didn't have enough. The total price was $180 for the headers, I told him that western union would charge me $20 to send that much so he said he would take $20 off the price. Me, thinking the world is perfect and runs smooth-I sent the money western union. He told me that the headers would ship out the next day and he would call with a tracking number. Now just the run around and no tracking number or headers. Never ending problems!!! Is is just me or is it cold outside.

This guy is a true piece of ****, he bought a skidsteer and an excavator from me with a bad check a couple of years ago. He then hid them and avoided me and my calls. I learned he had soem open warrants in another county so I got him set up and went to his place and took my stuff back while he was locked up. I suggest calling the Winnebago County sheriffs office for a fraud case as they know him well.

So i'm not alone with a possible bad deal? If the guy would just return a phone call we could go our merry ways. The tension and frustration in the room is rising. In my mind i am giving him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't have the money to send them till now or needed the money for something far more important..

Man this just stinks....no wonder I have apathetic tendencies. While I'm usually the 1st guy to try to help someone out, failure to plan on his part should have in no way affected the deal he made with you. Its not your fault he's short on another deal......But thats all speculation. It was just a bs story to get sheckels out of your wallet and into his. I'd drive across 2 states to get satisfaction.....Good luck, man:cool:

Call the Illinois Attorney Generals office, and blow the guy in for fraudulent interstate trade. When dealing with any "Legitimate Business" that needs 180 bucks from you right now, to transact a sale, should be a red flag deal Right Now! I thinks at this point I would pretty much right off the headers as being fictional merchandise and your 180 gone. A costly lesson in todays economy. If the other address you have is his house, looks like you may not be the only victim, seems to do pretty well for himself. Nice pool, shop and SUV.

Good advice here. Give Winnebago Sheriff's office a call too. They may help you out somehow. Sounds like a real s*** bag and they know him well. Sorry if you posted this-how much money are you out?$$ Leave him a message if you don't get the headers you're calling the Sheriff's department.

Thanks for all of the advice guys!! I think that if I can't get ahold of him today, I am going to call the Sheriff's office first thing tomorrow. I don't know how far i will get but I just want to either put the fear in him or make sure he doesn't do it again.. But like they say--Once a criminal always a criminal--in some cases.
