Found in my father in laws house and it kind of spoke to me. When I removed the broken seat I discovered the caning and thought it would be cook to restore the caning. Any advise from other furniture folks would be helpful. I don’t want to strip it. Just keep the patina and stain the caning once installed. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Caning is very easy. Get pre-woven cane fro. Rocklers or a similar woodworking supply store. Also get the retaining spline. An instruction sheet is usually included. Ensure the groove is squeeky clean. Soak the cane and spline in water for several hours. Lay a piece of weave at least 1" all around larger than the spline groove. Keeping the weave square, drive the spline onto the groove to retain the mat. The process is very much like window screens. Sent from my SM-G965U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
