After going to the Lifters Barona drags event, my wife said that building a rod was cool as long as the car was a closed car (5 window, pickup or Tudor) we almost rolled my OSCA a few years ago so I understand her Reservation about any kind of roadster.
Anyway, I was wondering if Frame lengths differed between Model ATudors or 5 windows. I'm interested in ordering a frame soon, but was wondering if the difference in body style mattered. should I get the body first, or is it cool to build the frame as a roller and add the body when I get it regardless of weather it was a tudor or a 5 window? If I ordered a frame from last refuge or some other company, will I need to know what Engine I plan on using to start with, or can I decide later? I have Nailhead and early Hemi dreams but would probably puss out and go with SBC with this one. Do the frame dimensions matter much with this one? I'd assume so but could I swap the small chevy for anything else in the future, or am I stuck with it due to frame dimensions?

    Any help would be great.

all model A's have essentially the same dimensions. You either need to go with a proven formula, like most of the semi-kit dealers sell or you want to get the powertrain, body and frame together before comitting to any permanent installation. I bought a bare perimeter frame for a Model A, expecting to do a roadster pickup or a boat tail speedster. My budget wasn't what I hoped when decision time came, so I have created an altered '38 chevy truck using the model A frame. The cool part is that I could pull that off and put a model A back on it at any time. I did stretch the wheelbase about 9 inches for proportion. You can see the details on my threads. That should give you a few ideas or what you're getting into. (and I love to show it off :) )
