Magazine wants to publish an Audio Equipment Guide for rodders and customizers. I'd like to hear what H.A.M.B.'ers like and don't like. Whatz the kool stuff? What sux? Also looking for anyone in Wisconsin that specializes in this area. Want to do a good job and I think I'll get some help here and good feedback here (and probably a bit of B.S., too).
I agree with the hidden aspect. But I also like a stereo to have some balls. not a problem in a 47 sedan. but if I had a t I wouldn't want a stereo
my iPod and a hidden head unit. I worked as a DJ at a radio station for 6 years, and now I can't stand to hear DJ's talk. I would like to see a satelite install with out a big ugly antenna for it.
in another life I was a custom stereo installer. to many options, and variables for a simple answer I think, like most anything else. Back in my day people wanted in dash radios in the glove box, or under dash mounts. changers hidden away, mp3/ ipod, or satellite radio, more times than not stealth, and compact size, made in the USA being the priority.
These days, mechanical audio storage is unnecessary. iPods and flash drives hold many more tracks than CDs or MP3s on CD. So folks can save behind the dash space by using a 1 DIN radio with iPod and USB input-only HUs. Depth is a big concern with US-market Midgets and Sprites, and here is a MG forum thread that discusses the shorter non-CD head units. http://www.mgexperience.net/phorum/read.php?3,1297446,1297446#msg-1297446
When I put one in my Impala it will go in the glove box [ with remote] so I can leave the stock one in the dash for looks. I have white vinyl on the rear deck and plan to paint the speaker grilles white so they don't stick out. I might put a sub in the trunk , god knows there is enough room.
The Secret Audio,I think that's the name, the head units that look like the original radios are complete and total ****. totally worthless stay as far away as you can.
