What do you think? Magnum 500s on a shoebox with whites?

Since I sleep in the trailer the roadster gets to stay under the canopy. I used the weather tech cover for the first time. Glad I brought it.

Made it home, safe and sound. Unpacked, fed, and looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. The weekend wasn't without its issues, mainly the PNW unpredictable weather, but it was a fun adventure none the less.

Rome's Coliseum may have been an incredible spectacle to behold but Rod Run #41 held its end up. I count myself lucky to have taken part in the festivities. I made the trip without incident, I witnessed some incredible rolling art and I took home some bounty. Or as they say in Rome; Veni, Vidi, Vici.

#42 is 365 days away. What to bring?

Thank you sir. I told the guy that presented it that it was a little awkward getting a valve cover award for a car that doesn't have any. He offered to flatten it for me.

    That is kind and appreciated.

One winner's valve cover was an oily, old blue (ford?) valve cover mounted to a plaque like the one I won, it was the hardship award that he earned when his Chevelle broke a ball joint coming into town. Someone put some creativity into that award considering everyone else got new, chrome valve covers on their boards.

There was also a long-distance award as one guy drove all the way from Texas for the event this year. A couple thousand miles to get rained on at the end of the world. Safe travels home Lone Star.

Some kind of subliminal message giving a Chevy guy a Ford valve cover for the hard luck award!

I hadn't thought of that but right you are!

I saw some stupid while I was at the beach cruising for 4 days but I would have to say the Tesla truck with a camper on back took the cake. You know Rod Run, it's not a destination, it's an adventure.

I got to see a fair amount of stupidity over the years (long past), we stayed with a coworker that had their vacation trailer right on the hiway, someone would drag a hose out to the hiway for burnout contests, witnessed a mullet head with a 66 4x4 pickup burning into dry pavement, broke a motor mount, broke the distributor, his fun ticket was full.
I hear that they have taken all the fun out of it, you can't be too careful you know, stay between the lines, the lines are your friend.
    Thanks for the photos Bill.

The burnouts are rare and spendy $550 (don't ask), but the fun is still there. Lots of eye candy, the driving kind as well as the strutting kind. Music, exhaust cutouts, superchargers, breathing $5.00 premium, etc. Cops keep an eye on the beer drinking in public as well. Best to keep the coozies handy, although shorter cans would make more sense. Friends flagged me down so I pulled in for a PBR, I didn't want to be rude!

@Hotrodmyk , that was one of my favorite shots. We couldn't find a parking spot on the street so after an hour of driving up and down the strip looking for 2 places to pull into I opted for a shot with the iconic Longbeach sign. @Kim Strobeck suggested driving out on the beach for a while but I have been nearly stuck in my dune buggy on the transition area before you get to firm sand. I would have made it about a foot or so before the back tires dug a hole in the beach and I would have to call a tow truck or worse, get towed out by that Tesla truck with the camper. Oh, the shame.
