Guys, I'd like to suggest you read the following book: "Scientific Design of Exhaust and Intake Systems" Philip H. Smith C.Eng., M.I. Mech E., M.S.A.E. John C. Morrison B.Sc., Ph.D., C. Eng., M.I. Mech. E. They spent 40 plus years designing, testing and racing all types of Internal Combustion engines. Read the book and you'll find LOTS of hidden horsepower. See you at the starting line!!!!! Ron
Your g***er sounds like a neat project as well. I think I'm going to try to make the show at Tinker, if nothing else I might leave the truck at home and spectate.
I just came over to take a peak and see what you all are up to over here and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, All the genius in this thread is freakin' me out man. I can hardly wait to see how they all go. Hole shots are the bomb. Viva La HAMB Drags!
I have been somewhat surprised that there have been so many comments about the intake. I made the plenumn with studs on the bottom so it bolts to flanges on the ends of the runners. My friends, Sam and Joe at Woodard Racing and Hot Rods, put the runners together for me. I can easily change from a 4x2 to 3x2 or even a 2x2 plenumn just by bolting it on. There are a lot of unknowns to be figured out with my combination. For instance, I decided to start with a milder cam (.600 lift and 309 duration), but Comp Cams says that they can build one that is closer to .670 lift and 339 duration. I am just hoping that I do not have to build billet rockers to run what I have now. I have the long exhaust pipes on it now, but I can change to a shorter exhaust for tuning if I do not like the torque curve I get. So yes, I will get to spend a lot of time at the track to get it tuned right, just like everyone else. I will be running my car not only with Hiney and the Senior Drag Racing ***ociation but also with the Central State G***er ***ociation. So I will get a lot of track time with Sam and all the g***er guys to help me sort things out. I may have another friend, David Morris scale the car just to see where I am at when he aligns the front end. I am not a "lone wolf" by any means, I really enjoy hanging out with my buddies and racing that quarter mile. I hope to see all of you guys out there and we can talk shop. Ron.
I can't add any thing other than lets get er goin, If it is half as much trouble as agent orange hads been to get to go straight we need to get with it... as well as joe caged this thing if it dont run we can make a thrill ride out of by bolting people in it and dropping them frm a crane. see ya at the show sat.......
One step forward and two steps back...shoot yourself in the foot and start all over....its the Hateful Monster Polka!!!
