I bought a subscription to RD at the Tampa Nats, and I haven't gotten mine yet. Should I be making a phone call?
THANKS! What a great tidbit. While I wasn't around purchasing the rag the first time around, I have a stack here now that I cherish. Santa is defiantly getting the subscription info from me on my wish list
Denise -- Get me a low, close-up shot of the license recess on the rear bumper (with and without license plate) and I can finish up a how-to I started on the car and send it in! Got all the other pics right here on the desk . . . later, Steve.
I'll be hitting the magazine stand this week looking for Rodder's Digest. We usually get our stuff a week later than heartland America. [ QUOTE ] Yes, Boyd is back, building great hot rods and big billet wheels. Recently, news filtered down to the print media that Boyd will be hosting his very own TV show beginning in January on the Discovery Channel [/ QUOTE ] I see a New Retro Trend starting. "Just like the '90s." All the Bubble pack Billet **** and Pastel paint you could possibly imagine. That ugly Yellow and Blue Roadster they did on TV looks 10 years behind the times.I would expect more from a "Leader" in the field. And to watch him yell at his employees every week? Not ****ing Likely.
Hey I got mine at the local grocery store. Loaf of bread, gallon of milk and THE RODDERS DIGEST. what a wonderful contry!!

wow, it really is just like it was! i dig looking at cars that are homebuilt, no matter the style. one thing missing from the 15 things is internet rodding, what are we, nothing? really though, the return of rd, for some of us is a throwback to those times before internet rodding, when we spent hours scouring old car mags for the few junkyard tech articles, and at the time many of us low buck low tech builders felt we were unreachable distances from other like minded rodders, no such thing as bouncing stupid ideas off of a bunch of people like here on the hamb. RD was the only perfect mag at the time, perfect in its imperfectness. it will be interesting to see how it holds its own in these different times.
damn, guys & gals, i've been reading for the last 3 days your comments on the new RD. so yesterday after work i head straight to the barnes & noble at the local mall 'cause they're the biggest book store around by several times over and if anyone would have it it would just have to be them, right? wrong. they never heard of it, even after they looked it up. so now it's to the grocery stores after work 'til i find it. hope it's out there somewhere. oh, well, at least i got some christmas shopping done. i ususally don't start 'til about 12/20. would one of you please post the address or phone # or e-mail addy of RD so that i can at least subscribe, even if i can't find this issue? thanx.
atch -- bookstores use something called a "buy pad" to keep track of magazines . . . RD is being sold under American Rodder's buy pad, so that's why B&N can't find it. In their system it's probably something like "American Rodder Presents Rodder's Digest." Oddly enough, I haven't seen any sub stuff anywhere -- you can try www.buckaroocommunications.com, should have an address/number/e-mail whatever.
Hey atch, found Rodders Digest at B&N here in Santa Ana. There were only a few copies so yours may already be out. Here's the sku# from front of mag, they may be able to search by it #7480802677. If still no luck email me. I will try to help. gordonb@broadcom.com JustSteve, Hope to see your articles in the magazine soon.
[ QUOTE ] I bought a subscription to RD at the Tampa Nats, and I haven't gotten mine yet. Should I be making a phone call? [/ QUOTE ] Came in a envelope yesterday... nice "thing" on Big Olds. Were there any HAMBcars in the K-zoo article?
Hey Atch,I happened to be in Moberly yesterday, stopped in Breaktime and bought a copy. The local Ashland grocery store carry`s it as well. I`m sure the old Kenne St. Nowells prolly has it too, they carry all of Buckaroos other rags. Hope that helps.
There is a god!!! RD was the only magazine that I rushed home to see if it was in my mailbox... and once in my sweaty palms... I'd read it front to back... Hey Steve, got a picture of my Christmas present that I sent the three editors in 1998(?)...? Dedicated fan of RD, Sam.
YAHOO! Only took 3 bookstores on my lunch today to find them, not to mention the stores I hit on Sunday, but FINALLY, I have copies of RODDER'S DIGEST! Cool photo of me cruzn Big Olds at the NSRA show in Kzoo this past September and a cool little caption regarding who now owns and CRUISES Big Olds around. Now I'm in a delema, I have a stack of work on my desk that needs doing and I have a Rodder's Digest What's a girl to do?
steve, abone, ***, thanx guys. good info. i get off work at 4:00. at 4:10 i'll be at patricia's iga (the old keene st. nowell's) lookin'. if that doesn't work i'll use steve's info and try b&n again. if that doesn't work (and i can't find it at any of the other local venues) i'll be beggin abone for help. *** - where in ashland did you see it? ashland isn't too far to go to get a RD. neither's saint louis or kansas city for that matter. zor - you listenin' in SL? if you are would you snag one for me if you see it? i'd rather have two than none. i've gotta agree with sam and everyone else that RD was the only mag i really cared about when it came in the mail. the rest pretty much fall into the category of "i must maintain my subscription 'cause there MIGHT be something worthwhile in it occasionally." when street rod builder sent me the renewal stuff recently i wrote them a letter back telling them thanx but no thanx; they just didn't have anything in their mag that interested me any more. my SR subscription is about up and i'm debating whether to re-up or not. about the only reason i can think of to keep up the subscription is because i've got all of them for many years back. not much of a reason, huh? i recently renewed r&c, but for about the same reason. denise - i know what i'd do...
Mike, if all your searching fails to aquire you one, I'll send you one of my copies. After sitting here for a couple of minutes doing work with one eye on the computer and one eye on RD on my desk, I got up, mag in hand, and took it to one of my peers in the office next door. I asked him not to give it back to me till my work is done. I need to stay off the HAMB now so I can finish work!
well, denise, that took what? 2:45 - 3:46. that's 61 minutes. you get all your work done in just an hour? i wish i was that fast. (and thanx for the offer. it's nice to know that if i can't find one that there's a plan b i can fall back on)
What a ****ed-up deal! I called every single boodstore in the Omaha area and nobody even heard of the magazine or Bucharoo publications, for that matter. I hit 11 convience stores on my way home and the only Buckaroo magazine I found was Super Rod. Then, I went to the Buckaroo publications web site and even THEY don't know they have the magazine! They don't show it in their list of publications.....I sent them an E-mail asking to subscribe if I can get the #1 issue... Jesus H. Christ....what kinda way is this to sell a magazine? end of rant. This rant will self destruct in 30 seconds....
Got mine at Barnes and Nobles after the local drug stores, Little Professor book store and Boarders didn't have any. Rocky, let me know if you want me to send you one, or two. I do free autographs
Denise...you could occupy a special place in my heart if you'd send an autographed copy. I'll send you my addy by e-mail {if you lost it] and I'll send you a buncha money...and thanks!
[ QUOTE ] you could occupy [/ QUOTE ] WHAT???? you mean I don't already???? Consider it in the mail xoxox
be watchin' for a new post en***led "He Shoots; He Scores!!!" which will be appearing in just a few minutes. (it's not there now; i haven't even written it yet)
Oh yea... if you look at the pics from Kzoo, you will see a flattie powered T on page 74, if you look in the bottom right hand corner, that tire is mine....so there..lol
I got the last copy they had at Books-A-Million today,,,Heck it doesn't seem like that many years ago when i bought the first magazine a the NSRA nats south in Columbia, South Carolina ,,,May 30th 1981,,,Gary even made a joke about if i subscribed to the magazine he would autograph it and make it worth a lot more someday,,WE had a big laugh!!!! Rodders Digest IS back and it is as good as ever!!!!!!
Atch, They had 2 copy`s the other day here in Ashland at the grocery store on main (only grocery store in this one horse town), It`s about 1 block from where we have the show and about 3 blocks from me. I`ll go there tomarrow and see if they still have one...if so I`ll grab it fo ya!
