Art & Inspiration Rodders Journal #86?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by seatex, Jul 10, 2023.

  1. And…another week goes by and still no fulfillment. Has any lifetime members received their issue from TRJ?

  2. ...I personally have not, but I did order one from Autobooks and received it promptly. Still hoping that I get one from TRJ (maybe with a different cover:cool:). I think Steve is doing his absolute best against some difficult challenges. Others will disagree, I get it. If I receive one it will be nice, if not, it wont be the end of the world......Don. 07262019.jpg

Not yet, thinking about this last night and went through this thread to see what others had experienced. Maybe time to contact them, although that sounds challenging. In spite of not getting mine (yet), hats off to Steve Coonan for continuing to trying to resurrect RJ and keep the great publication going.

  4. It's simple. Issue 86 is obviously in print. It has been mailed out to some subscribers. (Some continental US subscribers have chimed in to say they received. Have not seen any International Subscribers, including myself as a Lifetime Subscriber, who have advised they received a copy).

Steve has provided 86 to retailers (Autobooks and maybe others?) to help with cashflow. Remember, subscribers have already paid (years back). So no new money coming in from subscribers. BUT, new money coming in from retailers/current sales.

All subscribers hopefully will get their copy, though many here are buying from Autobooks just to ensure their copy comes through at all... a slap in the face in my opinion.

TRJ was able to host a party at the Lonestar RoundUp in Texas a few months back and apparently was giving issues away for free to help with publicity. If that's true, that's another slap in the face to subscribers.

In my opinion, more damage has been done in the last 4 years due to lack of communication, or empty promises from TRJ, than actual real delays in providing the magazine.

  5. A friend just got a text from Steve and was told that his bulk mailer depot stopped doing bulk and he had to go to another source. FWIW.

“checks in the mail I swear”

  9. TRJ's April 16th email stated "All subscriber copies will be in the mail over the week or so."
Either the bulk mailer depot took two months to let him know that mags weren't going to get shipped, or issue 86 didn't go out to 'all' subscribers back in April. Willing to bet on the latter.

I’m less than 200 miles from the office and I have not seen anything

I am pretty sure that most of those who have received copies in the mail have purchased them from auto books or a third party supplier. It appears that rodders journal sent out some advanced copies to a privileged few but not to their general or lifetime subscribers. Unfortunately I am not one of the privileged few chosen ones.

I am hoping that we don't have another stuff up as with issue 83 where only US subscribers received their copies and all international subscribers copies were supposedly destroyed by the shipper / distributor

  14. I didn't say that no issues had been shipped. I said "issue 86 didn't go out to 'all' subscribers back in April".

Shipping to 'all' subscribers would mean that 'all' subscribers have received

I know that some subscribers have received theirs. I know many subscribers (continental US and international) have not received theirs.

You Know, I really got excited when I got that Message in my Email Months Ago. I've even asked my usual mail carrier to be on the look out for a Large Cardboard Envelope. You recall, I'm a Lifetime Subscriber. Now without even asking, My mail carrier says: I Haven't Seen Anything Yet Mike!

  16. Not long now and two months since mailings were to take place. Makes me think a lot of us guys are just dead horses. I guess I don't care how stand up Steve is in some guys eyes I'm just not finding that to be so.....

If you believe in them, it's called "support" something us Hot Rodders do for our brothers! Waaaay too much negative bullshit on here whining about less $$$ than you spend on lunch in a week! Steve has done so much good for our Hot Rod world and is still trying to move forward in tough times! Just stop!!!

I've know Steve since the late 70's when he shot a feature on my deuce 5 window. and have been a supporter and defender since, but even I am becoming skeptical. Subscriber since the start and lifetime subscriber since when they were first offered. I finally gave up and got the latest issue from Auto Books. Curious to see if he'll be vending at the LARS next week? Time to man up Steve, you've got 1000's of investors who would like a little return for their supporting you.

I would just like know when my scrip ends. I think I have maybe 2 or 3 coming and thats it. Seems no way to tell without a return email, and I don't keep the mailing envelope that might show the expiration date like the old days, and like the rest of you it's been a while since the last one.

I have every issue…… starting to wonder if I’ve been “eighty sixed”

  25. Finally, weeks after it had been expected, June 8, 2024, I was sitting ou on my front porch, a postal worker came up to me and handed me mine! I am a lifetime member, and was starting to worry they were taking a chance that I had died.

I’ve seen about half a dozen people get them today. I guess this at least gives us a time line between “it’s in the mail” and us getting it for feasible future issues. Just plan on the mail taking ten weeks next time.
