This morning My brother Kellan got to ride in a Ford Tri motor, Wow what an Awesome bit of history. If you think about it your riding in a flying model T. If this thing comes to your town book a flight its well worth it! IMG_1071.JPG IMG_1055.jpg IMG_1074.JPG

That's a neat deal for sure. Years back they came to the Iola Wi. Car show you could get rides. That thing flew all week end

We were camping at Lake Erie when I was a kid (like 1963, I was 12) and you could take a ride in a Ford Tri Motor. My Dad and Uncle told me it had three Ford flathead V8s in it, they asked me if I wanted to fly in it, I said no way!! My uncle who is in his 90's now still razes me about it.

If it gets to Anchorage, I'm in for a ride. Would love to have a ride, especially since I'm also a pilot. Would be mega cool.

Just got back two weeks ago from AirVenture at the EAA grounds in Oshkosh. There were two Tri-Motors regularly giving rides. I LOVED standing near the runway with each takeoff....priceless internal combustion/miracle of flight porn !!

  9. Those radial engines sure look cool.
Ford started building them in 1925, and stopped in 1933, after 199 were built.
I know this, cause I googled em. :D

Took the family for a flight when it was here and was worth every penny! You think those radials sound cool from the ground............holy crap, you gotta hear them from inside while she's airborne!

My Grandson and I take a ride on the one at Oshkosh every year . If you look closely , you can see the oil pressure gage out here on the engine just to the left of the big strut.

I'd have had to make a rubbing of that Ford logo with the wings.

Way, way, way COOL! I have been up in the "9-0-9", B-17 and the "Miss Barbie III", B25 Bombers, what a thrill. My dream is to go up in a P-51, Mustang. Love to go up in a Tri Motor someday.

Lovely Lady, the Ford Trimotor... One was giving rides at the an Nuys airport in 1967, my ex wife took a ride.
I waited it out...(can't remember the fare, but it wasn't cheap) Would have loved a flight.

A little kid was standing next to me, asked his mom: "Why did that man call that airplane a 'Tin Goose', Mommy?"
I told him because it was 'corrugated'. He looked confused. "That's what they do to geese at the Ford plant."
Hope the kid developed a sense of humor...possibly, when he got a computer.
That'd be the first thing I looked up...

Got to ride in the right seat as a reward for for being a ground volunteer when they came to Traverse City airport a few years ago. The pilot let me turn it from downwind to base so I got log 15 seconds, ha ha. One must fly these beasts every microsecond with long almost unresponsive control imputs. Seemed like every thing happened at 75mph, takeoff, cruise, approach and landing.

Scenic airlines in 'Vegas used to operate 2 of the tri-motors. On " appreciation day' they would take employees for rides. Headed toward Barstow and was passed by a train!! Bad storm flipped one of them on it's back, Class 26. The other one I believe is retired at the Canyon.

"A flying model t ",that puts it into perspective !. Very cool

  29. Very cool!! This is actually what Henry envisioned P7280106.JPG to be a flying Model T but it didn't pan out. 4 or so were built and a test pilot was killed during testing. That was the end of that....
