Thanks foe the heads up Mike and Jimmy. I have the same inline 6 set up has , what looks to be, what Rodger is running. I'm installing front bags on my '50 and was gonna add another Viar compressor. Think I'm scraping that idea. You guys pretty much sealed the deal for me. That electric hum in the trunk is annoing has two fat chicks farting in tin cans. Nads my friend, YOU rule on so many levels!
thanks for the props bro, that means alot. and you are doing some wonderful work to the body!!. gimme a lil while I will post some pics of it when it was at my shop. as far as the engine driven compressor, for those of you asking. once you switch to one, you will kick the shit out of yourself for ever running electric. and as far as applying the EDC to the straight 6, well we did multiple versions of it before we got it where i liked it. and to my knowledge, one had never been done before. we do have a patent pending for a kit to make it easy for everyone to do this, look for that in the new year. cars looking great, I'll be back ater with some pics
Those headlamps and the antennas look great. The valves and tubing for the air system is a super clean set up. I like the linkage for the solenoids as well. You've probably eliminated 80% of the problems with door poppers. Great work by everyone involved.
So here is the 54 that I worked off of. I checked it out and they are not 55 bezels, but all the same here is what the inspiration was from.
I should have the other side buttoned up tomorrow and I'll do a little write up as far as how it came together. Plus Roger is down at the shop to help do some stuff, so there should be some pics of some floor patches too!
So heres a step by step on the headlights. First thing was to make little cuts so I could put the J clips on the headlamp housing instead of the fender, and get that shit reversed. It's funny how by screwing it in backwards makes for perfect spacing for 55 bezels. The 54 bezel is oblong, so next is to make the opening round to match the 55 bezel. It took some pie cuts to smooth it out. Then get the wire shaped... then make the upper mounting bracket... Then a couple of strips of sheetmetal to hold the wire in place... Then fab the new sheetmetal cap to make it flow into the fender... Then weld... Tomorrow I'll put up picks of it metal finished and ready for filler, and pics of Roger's Floor patches all welded uP!
right on,...do you go to the Round-Up? I may have it there this year, or my coupe. Not that you can do it there, just saying.
There is alot to update, just waiting for picture of some stuff completed to post them. The hood is about licked. We bull nosed the front of it. I gas welded the whole thing because I had alot of shrinking to do to get the peak out of the front of it. Then cut some 12 gauge to make a little rib that I tacked onto the top of it, then leaded that in for a tight little peak. Here it is all metal finished. Here is the peak prepped for lead. Here it is covered in lead, I ran out last night (It was an all nighter) So here it is about 3/4's done More to come...
Making great music for my ears and helping build a custom thats easy on my eyes... doesn't get better than that! Good taste, and great work here guys, keep it up!
