Thanks for the kind words. It would be really nice to see this car come to an end. I was hopeing to get this thing ready for 2007 but money ran out. Ho hum, I am near the end and think I should have it done by next season. It's probrably a good thing to wait, theres things that I want to change.......................
Looks great Jim, wish i could direct you to the moneytree bu i can't find it either. Looking forward to the Ranch Run, I'm gonna be there this year!
Lord almighty, that thing is beautiful! I know I love a car when it reminds me of a WWII fighter right off the bat, and that one did, for some reason. -Gregory-
Right on, Ithink I have a good game plan for the fuel lines. They should make the engine look more complete, but not overwhelming. Yeahhhhhhhh.........................
The steering wheel was a total catastrofy. It took 18 months to get, and on the day of it's arrival, I waited 1 hr. before I would open the box. You see, I thought I had made a mistake on the dementions and thought I would have to re-start. I cannot tell you how happy I am with the turn out. It needs to be seen in person to "get it". It's dementional, no flat spots anywhere.....................................
Part of me wants to burn down my garage for the futility of continuing on with my hack work when something this beautiful exists... the other part of me is inspired to keep on keeping on. This is what a hot rod should look like! I love the green. Beautiful proportions also. Seriously, your creation is inspirational. It will really make a buzz when you're finished.
It could just be the black russians talking but lose the 4 shocks and the tube axle and its about as perfect as you can get. But that could just be the alcohol... No..... it really needs to lose the shocks and axle.
Thank you dirty trace. Hang in there you will get it done. It has taken a great deal of time and a great deal of frustration to get were this car is. I have spent the same amount of time of re-working panels as to build the car. All the hand made pieces have doubles or triples laying in the s**** pile. The cowl took 3 attemps, each around 80 hours...........................................
Looking great! Can't wait to see it with the body in BRGreen too. The reveal in the inner door panel for the seat is a neat detail. Do we get to see it in January?
John, you just reminded me to give Jerry a ring. I think i'll give hime a call monyana. We just put the play-doh away and I think I'm gonna have another pbr before bed. Talk to you soon...................................
WOW! what a super fine machine, love the industrial valve covers, really tasty touches. Love the pinstriping on the wall panels. Rock on. Sololobo
I like it, and the flowing shape of it works well with the other body, interior and frame details. You "drunks" (three of you) that have nothing intelligent to say other than derogatory one liners with no reasoning to back up your prejudices, Shut your ****ing pie holes!
Since I'm one of maybe two people that had a "one-Liner" on this thread, I'll address your concerns doc... Fist of all I was sorta joking about the scrub line thing because it's clear that Jim was disregarding it altogether... However, I personally think the car is too low. It looks flat from the grill shell to the cab to the bed. I think the best hot rods have a subtle arc formed from the top of the grill shell up to the cowl to the back of the cab and in the case of an RPU back down to the back of the bed and beyond. It gives the car a racy arched-back look like a tiger ready to pounce, or a cheetah or grey-hound in full-stride. The shell actually looks higher than the cowl in those pics... I also think it has no stance... Also, as far as I can remember, I've never been drunk on the HAMB... I have better things to do whilst inebriated... How's that for some reasoning... Aside from my personal feelings on Rogue's truck, it clearly displays almost unparalleled craftsmanship. Lots of good thinking went into it... I'd like to see it when it's done.... And in closing, I'd like to say, Bite Me Doc!
Kilroy makes a very intelligent argument and on a few levels, I agree... I wouldn't throw him in the "drunk" pile just yet. That said, this car isn't trying to be something it is not. I, personally, think it is gorgeous and love the obvious effort and thought that went into it. Every sacrifice to drivability was done for a rewarding reason... And the craftsmanship? Damn man... talent. I'll say it - I love the car. And I normally don't fall for cars that sit this low...
I also questioned Jim on the scrub line in person the first time I saw the car mocked up a couple years ago and he said he is "pretty sure" it will clear with only one flat tire at a time. Kilroy wasn't one of the "drunks" I was referring to anyway... Are all you guys drunks? I spend all the money I usta waste on booze on my cars now. I'm this ****in' crazy stone cold SOBER! (22+years)
The first thing I noticed was that huge brick of dope all wrapped up on the p***enger seat, ready to smuggle. Other than that, I love it. I'd like to know if this started as an old body or if the whole thing is custom made. Great metalwork on the front seat, don't know if i could pinch my fat *** in there but it sure looks good.
Can I actually speak up as a confused young'un and ask what the scrubline comment was referring too? That one got me... Thanks. -Gregory-
Then I humbly withdraw my bite-me request... I'm sure glad I deleted the part where I called you an 'ol-hippy'...
damn! that thing is nice. can't wait to see it done. I agree with doc. I like the detail recess in the doors for the seats.
When they say below scrubline, they mean no part of the car hangs below the bottom of the rim. So if you get a flat, the undercarriage won't hit the ground, causing a loss of vehicle control.
The thing just rocks, the stance is awesome and i really dig the headlamps with the gold/copper whatever covers. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is killer
