History Roll Call...El Mirage...May 15-16, who's going?

I usually go the 15 to 138 north,then turn right at....can't remember the street,but I'll let you know when I get my map in my hands at work. Think it's Sheep Creek Rd,or something like that....

 

If your going through Ontario and the Cajon Pass, do NOT turn right...turn left on Chamberlain....then right on Koala, then left on El Mirage Rd. and right onto the road marked , like when you see this.............



From Las Vegas or San Bernadino:

I15 to State Route 18 in Victorville
West (about 12 miles) to State Route 395
North on State Route 395 (about 10 miles) to Chamberlaine/Crippen Rd in Adelanto.
West (about 2 miles) to Koala Rd.
North (about 1 miles) to El Mirage Rd.
West (about 10 miles) to the Mountain View Rd.
North (about 1 mile) to the Dry Lake bed.
West (about 4 miles) to the start line.

 

Coming from the South up 395, Crippen/ Chamerlain has a Circle K and a Mexican Restaurant on the corner. See that turn left.

As for the guy wanting to stay in a hotel in Adelanto..

Maybe Palmdale, but you are better off and safer camping at El Mirage.

The CHP hides on El mirage Rd during the weekends, so keep it mellow.

 

i take the back way ( a little easier) 15 to 138 toward wrightwood, 9.3 mi, exit sheep creek rd take sheep creek past all the meth labs till it ends 14.3 mi, make a right on el mirage rd then left a SCTA sign, (i think its mountain veiw)pay the ranger then drive @ 5 mi west across the lake bed till you see the coarse stay to right of the coarse. And WELCOME TO EL MIRAGE!!

 

As you are driving through Addaghetto, if you see the homies running towards your car- haul ass! Victorville has some decent hotels and if you want to store the hot rod at my house for the night, let me know. VV has it's fair share of shitheads too! I will try to see you there on Saturday. I will be in my buggy....

 

That way is quicker and much more scenic. At the 15/215 merge get off on Kenwood, right, under the fwy and stay on it following the fwy. It is old Route 66 and where they hold the 4-banger races. It will put you back on the 15 one exit before 138. Don't stop at the nice area with the green trees next to the water though unless you are looking to pick up a dude. Cool drive other than that.

Sorry to say I will not be there this time. We have the "Yellow Brick" ready to go but this week my Mom who has been fighting liver cancer took a bad turn and is not expected to live long so I will be visiting her in San Diego Fri. and Sat. Thought I could make it for Sun. but my partner Charlie wrecked on his bike yesterday and is too bruised up to haul the truck down and tech by himself. Such is life, see you all in June.

Is there an offical address so I could type it into my GPS? I think the "back way" sounds easier. thanks.

 

GPS El Mirage, it will get you close but it will also take you the 395 RT. Last time I played with my GPS to get there it got me lost. If you MapQuest from LA/OC it will show you the 138/ sheep creek way. Google Map El Mirage just to familiarize yourself with the layout

 

I think they sell rulebooks at the SCTA trailer. Its located near the start.

Anybody able to give a visiting Kiwi a ride up to Elmo tomorrow?
My friend and fellow Maverick, Ben ( GooseNZ ), is arriving in the USA sometime today for work and will be staying somewhere in Santa Monica.

I thought I had a ride arranged for him but it has fallen through at the last minute...I am in NZ , so it's a bit hard to hustle around at this late stage.... PM me for his contact details if possible.... I'm sure he will help with gas etc.......

My sedan (in my avatar) is all cleaned up and ready to get dusty. I am heading out Saturday morning and mooching some shade from Fabian and the rest of the Bean Bandits. If you see me flag me down I am loong overdue for meeting some HAMBers.

Sorry to hear that Tim. I will miss those seeing both those F100s, but you definately have something more important to do.

 

Thanks, don't count us out! The truck is running at it's best so we will be out there in June for that record and have paid the fee for Bonneville already. My wife and I plan on dropping in Sat afternoon on the way back from SD so we can have a burger with the Gold Coast Roadsters, look for the pink trailer.

 

I'll be there bright and early...

 

I am rollin with Bob so keep an eye out for us.
