    Let's see where to start:
Great, great grandpa Lutz, US Army5th Michigan, Civil War
    Another relative Lutz, US Army,WWI
Grandpa, Leslie Maynard, US Army, 3rd Infantry Regiment, Co. K, Philippine Insurrection 1900-1903.
Great Uncle Robert Maynard, US Army, 3rd Infantry Regiment, Philippine Insurrection 1900-1903 and Cuba 1898.
Dad, Harry Maynard, US Navy, World War II.
Uncle, Anthony Wilson, US Army, World War II, Italy.
Uncle, Ronald Maynard, US Air Force, Korea.
First Cousin, Charles Wilson, US Army, Retired.
There are others, but, my over-40, memory has struck me stupid at the moment.

Oh yeah, me, Philip Maynard, US Air Force, 1971-1975, Viet Nam Vet, Electronic Sensor Systems Technician. RF-4C, AC-130A-E Gunships. Most of my time was at Bergstrom AFB, Austin, TX and at Ubon, RTAFB, Thailand, 5/73-5/74 working on the 16th S.O.S AC-130 Gunships.

For you folks new to Austin, Bergstrom was located where you have your "New" airport.

Thanks to all of you who have served to cause of Freedom and Liberty by sacrificing and serving.

Thanks also to our friends everywhere, especially our "cousins" in Australia, England and New Zealand. Rememberance Day is just around the corner for you also.

Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition!

I am now 65, but when growing up in the '50's WWII was not long before. My Father served in Patton's 3rd Army-Europe, my uncles in Navy, Air Force and Merchant Marines. When I was between 12 & 17 I first hung around, and later worked at, a garage, body shop, fillling station combo. Most of the guys there were WWII vets also and I heard plenty of 'War Stories'.

When I was 18 I enlisted in the Navy. I had my choice of boot camp in San Diego or Great Lakes. That was a NO BRAINER. For years I had been reading the car mags and California was the car mecca and I wanted very badly to be there and see some of this stuff for myself.

Stationed in Long Beach on a Destroyer ("tin can") and got a chance to fulfill soem of my dreams. Returned to the midwest after my tour and have been a lifelong Gearhead.

Although I didn't make it a career, my military service is a very valued experience that I wouldn't trade for anything. A very useful "industrial strength" lesson in life for which I am grateful.
