US Army 1960-1965. Laos (we weren't there) . Language skills...Chinese and French. Then off to France. DeGaulle threw NATO out, so it was off to Germany. Out in May 1965, W-3.

My car hobby was put on hold until retirement, but it did give me an opportunity save some coin and eventually jump in with both feet! Two cars in progress right now...'50 Merc and '32 Ford...oh, also an additional 3 car garage to hold them.

I started reading this thread so I could figure out how old most of the HAMB members are. I am really impressed. I was in the U.S.A.F from 1954 to 1958 and was an AFSC 47151 truck mechanic. I was in SAC and went TDY to the Far East and was impressed by the World War Two wreckage that had not yet been cleaned up, including the Battleship Oregon laying on it's side in Guam.
I have an uncle who is still alive who made a Chevrolet six cylinder hot rod in Portland before World War Two. I rode in it. He went in the Air Force and flew an A-20 spy plane over Germany. During World War Two I had two uncles in the Air Force and three in the Army. Luckily they all came back alive.
I have an ancester who served in George Washington's Army.
My daughter was a Nurse in the Air Force, One of my sons was a Combat Engineer in the Army, the other son was a C-130 crew chief in the Air Force.
To all of you on this thread God bless you and thank you for your service.
