My biggest influence has been my father, US Army '69-'71. I have learned basically everything I know about anything mechanical from him.

Awesome thread! I grew up as a military brat! Dad enlisted in the Air Force in 1948 and served proudly until 1969, earning the rank of Senior Master Sergeant! My grandfather on my dad's side was a veteran of WWI. My grandfather on my mother's side was a veteran of WWII, serving stateside. My Uncle TC hit the beaches of Normandy on 6-6-44 and earned (or suffered) his way through a Purple Heart and 2 clusters getting to Germany in '45. 1 more uncle served in the Navy during the Pacific campaign. All of them survived, but none of them ever wanted to share their experiences. War truly must be hell!:(

I am very proud of everyone of them and I hope that before each one of them passed on to their just reward, that they knew just how much I loved them and how proud of them I was!

My grandfather (on mom's side), his brother TC, and my dad were old school mechanics back before it was old school! They are truly missed by me!

Keep the spirit of America alive guys! Thank a Vet!

    Ken

I'm just a Kraut civillian, but I want to thank "Butch" for all he has taught me about them old cars. He joined the Service way back when he was still driving his Ford shoebox, kinda hotrodded with a V8 engine and shit and stuff.

He served your country in 'Nam for FOUR whole years, voluntarily, from the late 60's to the early 70's. Without the United States, WW2 would prolly had taken another ending, and I prolly couldn't enjoy neither my (still HAMB-unfriendly) Uhmerican rides, nor this GREAT message board.

Also, I'd like to thank and salute one man who had not only stirred my passion for classic rides and hot rods, ut also served bravely in Bosnia, and at least two times in Iraq.

stay with the Best, stay Army!

    kudos to the 1st AD!

kudos to the 302nd MIB and Cpt. MJ. LaFlamme!

remember; Freedom has no cash value. It is far greater than that.
