so, i just got off the phone with my good buddy paul howard (av8paul) who is on the road with the rolling bones, headed rapidly toward the salt. he asked me to give y'all an update on their travels. i said yes. so i guess that makes me the official "unofficial rolling bones road trip updater."

tonight he called from indianapolis, where they are holed up for the evening before they roll on into des moines tomorrow night, supposedly to be hosted by some no good hot rod hoodlums from the area.

speaking of hot rod hoodlums, last night the 'bones endured 5 hours of torrential downpours from new york to erie, pa. apparently it was all well worth it when they finally rolled into erie because the hamb's own village idiot rolled out the red carpet and provided dogs, burgers, potato salad and all the typical greaser grub. left those old bones quite satisfied.

so, paul will check in with me every other day or so, mostly to make me insanely jealous. he'll probably even call me from behind the wheel of his supremely cool roadster and make engine noises at me...but mostly he'll just tell me a few lies about tearing down i80 at 110 (they'd NEVER do that...)and i'll update you here.

wish i was there paul...wish i was there.

i know larry, i know. but paul is over 60 and has a little trouble with the whole electronic communication thing...lol

maybe one of them has a way to upload them here at some point, or aat least get them to me, and i can post 'em up. but it think paul's main reason for the call was to rub it in with me...

Yeah, my dad's over 60 and he won't get a computer because he thinks someone will steal everything out of their house over the internet while they sleep...

Indianapolis update, all is well, the turn out for Indy was a poor representation of all the killer rods we have here. Northfleet even drove down from lafeyette, but people could not come from across town.

I kind of figured there would be more people there too. I went but wasn't very sociable (I know that's not very 'HAMB'y of me). I just stopped by, crawled around the cars for an hour or so, tried not to get too much drool on them, and then split.

Here are some great shots that one of our good friends took while they were here Sunday. They were about 1 1/2 hours later than what Paul originally estimated but at one point they were parked east of Buffalo waiting for the heavy thunderstorms to pass. As if by cue, when they showd up the rain stopped and the sun came out! We were set up at a church picnic pavillion and they even unloaded the low tech race car and Ken made a quick pass in the church parking lot.

I believe the tub belongs to a fella named Russell Daly. Paul said he just recently finished it. He's kind of a tall lanky guy and it's a real treat watching him squeeze into the thing. And speaking of squeeze, I believe it has a big block Chevy for power.

The Rolling Bones have been stopping in our town for lunch on their way to Bonneville for the past several years. We locals met up with them and they always took the time to BS with us while they were here. When we heard that they were stopping here for the night this year we figured that some kind of spread was in order. Despite the crappy weather everybody seemed to have a good time.

I publicly admit to being the slacker Thom was referring to for not driving across town.

That T is neat. Interesting how the louver continues the reveal from the '32 rail. Is it a new build?

    More pics of this too?

YES PLEASE! That's Jake and LuAnn Roberts' 3 window. It's on it's maiden voyage. Big block chevy with a Man-a-free intake. It looks great!
