Top work Rich, very few people can admit to owning such a well turned out car as their first hot rod. i know it's an on going project, paint unfinished etc but you did well to get the car on the road and looking so good just in time for Pendine. Well done mate, looking forward to taking it for a spin
Keep your head up KFC, too many modernized rides from GG & NSRA are posted and do not get any heat. Yours is much closer to the criteria. And you drive in the rain topless to boot.
Thanks everyone. Well we made it there and back with out any major issues, shock mount came loose and lost a bit of water getting hot in traffic but an almost 300 mile round trip to pendine and back, which means the car has a total of about 450 on it since completion. Weather was surprisingly kind to us although it was pretty wet on the journey home. "Might" have just nudged 100mph on the return journey. I think that's all she has with out a rear end change Racing on pendine beach, I only watched but it was worth all the work to get the car there
Nice Pics Rich, congratulations on getting the roadster finished in time for Pendine, it's a fantastic looking car
Cheers dean and every one else, with out the pressure of getting it ready for pendine I feel a little lost. Need to get the details sorted now. Gaiters, bind the mats, fit new ammeter and starter switch all the touch ups, go through the brakes again, get lights and bonnet painted, sort the boot/ trunk area. And on and on
I thought the interior was almost too nice, but I see you're a trimmer. Nice job. What's the story on the grille shell. It looks a little more like polished aluminum than chrome, might just the light in the photo.
Almost 18 months later! There's been progress , April 2014 the car finally went for final paint after a lot of indescion I chose black (groundbreaking I know) it's a nice old fashioned brown/ black not a modern blue/ black. Sadly my painter and life long family friend "Uncle" Bob "Dicer" Price died racing at the Isle of man TT while the car was in his shop part finished. As you can imagine that put a damper on the big finish, I've posted the odd picture but otherwise been quiet about it. Other things included a lot of polishing of parts a final finish on the interior , fitting a 40 ford wheel ( really nice original ). Then another freind took some pictures in his studio of the finished article. I really love this car it's fast, it drives nicely it looks good , it's stupidly loud and it makes me and most other people smile. I joked in another thread you couldn't give the parts away which is probably true most of its junk with a few nice touches to tie it together ( the grill shell is aluminium made by a guy over here for a previous owner) A big thanks to Pete, Nathan, George, Steve and Bob (rip)
Staying within the speed limit in the UK is a different game than here in the US where you just need to keep your eyes peeled. The place is COVERED with speed cameras. My GPS beeps when you approach one, bloody thing sounded like morse code driving around SW London last year. Smart move there but probably not needed here.
I wouldn't worry I only used the satnav while I was getting used to the car , pretty good at speed by ear these days, but the uk gov does love a speed camera !
