    Jeff,

You really don't need a "survivor" :) I'll just come up, bring some horchata and load it up and take it off your hands. And those holes in the valve covers . . . I mean sooner or later those holes will get bigger . . . . :) Looking great!

    That is one cool truck.
I particularly like the frenched column drop.
I dare say that's the first time I've ever seen that.
Can we get a close up of the fresh air inlets and what you used to fasten the small end of the con rod to the dash?
What ever happened to the teardrop aircraft lights?

Well Jeff wanted me to jump in and give a brief overview, however; I will try to keep it short.

Jeff brought the truck down to me approximately 1 1/2 months ago as the project fell off of the rails for some reason with the previous builder. During the time of the build by the previous builder we were introduced to one another and thats how I came into the mad, mad world of Jeff Norwell, hot rod artist. I'm just a back yard guy with a back yard hot rod shop building a car every now and then. Except this one, it will be completed for Texas this spring where we will be having a great time smokin' the rear hides'.

    For the recent build:

The truck bed was out of square and bulging in the wheel well area some 1 1/2", remember this is an orginial box, however; the box structure/frame was built to follow the box, instead of straightening the box.

We blew the box apart, fixed the holes and cut out rust patches. The wheel wells were cut out and **** welded in place making a nice "C" notch for the axle to travel. Next we built the inner frame, making a one piece/flat floor instead of the orginial stepped floor which looked as if the box floor were a set of stairs. This flat floor will look great as Jeff acquired some wood of guitar/instrument quality which will not be found on any hot rods. Stay tunned for future posts as the wood is awsome !!!!

After a long brain storming secession, Jeff drew a life size drawing/art work on my garage floor, which he signed, I still cannot use this area of my garage. We came up with a new roll pan design around the entire bottom of the truck to take away the heavy look and add more appeal to the *** end of Jeff's hot rod. I never looked at his *** !!!! Instead of frenching the tail lights and exhaust tips, why not the opposite and create platforms for the surface of the bezel or exhaust tip to sit on. The previous pic's show our idea.... Finally a rear end of a pick up truck other than the typical square tail gate and tail lights....

When Jeff came down 1 1/2 months ago, I dug out some old boat exhaust tips and that was it, he had to have them....

As for the roll pans, I went over to my buddies sheet metal shop and used his 14' brake for a while. I marked the flat sheet every 1/4" on each end of the cut sheet and began to make the roll pans you have already seen.

However; before I blew the box apart, I walked over to my trusting flaming wrench and did justice to the old "T" push bar. Why wouldn't you want to use the orginial 50's nerf bar/rear bumper which Jeff kept from the orginial hot rod ?

A proper saddle was built into the front of the box frame to hold his Moon style tank, which is sunk into the box floor instead of the typical, bolting it to the top of the flat floor. Jeff will be using great looking leather straps to cover the metal brackets.

The drivers door was re-skinned however the inner door etc. was not completed first. Well I cut off the finished, yep finished inner door and fab'ed up a new door bottom which this truck deserves.

Last week Jeff brought his elephant motor down, a 392 hemi built and set on kill when I dug out some louvered panels I had. Well after a missed supper, Jeff now has louvers in his tail gate.

This week end will see a NEW cab floor and a little cutting to an orginial deuce rad shell Henry himself probably held. I love cutting up expensive deuce shells in front of antique guys !!!!

Jeff's vision is turning out great. Jeff's vision you ask, look at his art work and it will explain everything. If you stop by his place late at night and if your are lucky enough, you just may see a couple of his real studio elves working beside him completing his hot rod art. He has elves for each theme, 12 for hot rod art, 2 for regular paying customers and 1.5 (yep 1.5, bun in the oven) for his commercial art.

Anyways, thanks to Jeff for trusting my vision and lack of talent to finish his hot rod, and it has THREE pedals.

P.S.: Jeff did I tell you I was going to cut a up your deuce shell, hopefully you are not nervous?
