I would be surprised if it didn't get junked soon after I rode in it in the late '50s. It was pretty beat up and rusty by then. I wonder if it was street legal even then. I don't remember any lights. Dave Green who owned it at the time lived up the street from me on Sterling Dr. in Oakland Ca. was a kind of rebellious Catholic school, cops son who pretty much didn't care. Although it was pretty nice of him to give me a ride in it since I was a few years younger than him and we didn't really hang around together.

I put out this info in hopes of finding anybody that has kept up with Dave his older brother Phil or the car.

I still drive by in the old neighborhood from time to time and would really like to see in their old garage in case one in a million it is still there.

**** I hadn't noticed that. It would be good to hear from them. Maybe I'll send them a P.M.

My take on this car. Try to look at it when it was built, not today. I believe it tis a thing of beauty and would be somewhat of a marvel if discovered today. I'm saving all the pics I can and, hopefully, more info will be found. Thanks, Carp

Gary, sorry I was not clear -- was referring to the '29 drag roadster in post #17, not the original modified....like the rest, wonder what happened to it, ...and who is "Palamedes"?

Just sent Palamides a P.M. Don't expect too much. That was his only post.

This picture is an original photo taken from Halls Top Shop in Oakland. On the back is hand written "Dago's Modified" Romeo is in the car.

This photo is taken at Oakland in 1949 , this was mostly a foreign car show with a few Hot Rods invited by the Slonakers , it was the inspiration for the first National Roadster Show in 1950.

That must be the car I rode in. That is pretty much as I remember it although a little more beat up. Short W.B., pretty high, flathead. It looks like he put some lights on it to make it street legal. Wish I was in touch with some of the guys from the old Oakland neighborhood. I'm sure they could shine some light on it.

**** is that a blower sticking out of the hood?

This is the post I was refering to in the PM I sent to you. I should have looked at the dates of the posts,, Palamides post was dated 1-5-13,,
It sure would be great if Palamides would have answered. There is hope still that he might answer.

It appears to be a supercharger Graham or Paxton with two carbs,, the position of the carbs is what makes me think it is a Graham.

I'm not sure if I have posted these pictures on this thread but they seem to show a progression.

I'm kind of wondering if these pictures are of the same car. The first two look the same but the third one only the body seems the same. Maybe a complete makeover.

Grandson! Still live in the Bay Area.

Nice to see all the photos. I'll have to start looking for and scanning any old photos my pops might have.

Hi, sorry I never got back to you on the wheels query...
No, they look similar, but my Turners have spokes that are flat, with a center rib up the spoke. Very pretty, caps are slight convex, (like a small polished Moon disc)
    Thanks for looking!
