Any leads on this car from the San Francisco Peninsula? Check out http://hotrodcraft.com/forum/thedeuce/index.php?topic=69.0
I remember that car, used to see it up and down El Camino Real on weekends, he had some buds in the Igniters Car club in Santa Clara. I heard that it sold around '59 for something like "Four-and-a-half"... ($450) My bud Wimpy just missed it, (so he said) but then bought a chopped '32 5 window thru an ad in the San Jose Mercury News, car was in Oakland. (also $450, had a stock-by-stock '46 flattie, Edelbrock 3 jugger & Edelbrock 8.5 finned heads) Drove it home on the then-new Nimitz Freeway! Car was primered, polished aluminum firewall. FAR CRY from the Ron Durr Phaeton!
Chappy drove the car around San Carlos and would hang out up by Markley Bros. house up the steet from me. I ended up with the Juggers/Sharp 32 that ended up at the ARGO Machine shop on Middlefield Road in Redwood City with Alby running a blown Chrysler in it when it wasn't in the stude. I've always wondered who bought the tub from Durr and where it is today. Thanks for responding!
