Hot Rods Ron Limbrick's "GHOST RIDER"

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jeff Norwell, Aug 1, 2010.

  1. The interior is just almost completed as is the rest of the car. The top and interior were done by Mike Elliott in Grand Junction Co. We dropped off the body while enroute to Bonneville and picked it up on the way home one week later. He did a great job in a very short time ! Thanks Mike
p.s. that's Mike in the photo waiting for us to leave so that he can get started....:)

  4. As you can see, the Frank Mack roadster had a very big influence on me. I really liked the way they sat so low in the car and this was a big factor why I chose the Zipper body. As my wife Joan said a long time ago "you can't sit high in a car and be cool". You know, I think she's right.

  5. The next step in getting the roadster closer to Detroit for the Autoramma in Feb.........
Got to London safe and sound, not counting the near rollover avoiding a monster dead deer in the center of the road. Driving 13 hours in the rain is NO fun!
The car is getting it's tonneau cover tailored today in Ailsa Craig (just north of London} and I will be picking it up in the morning. The same fellow did the carpet for the '39, a few years ago and that worked out well so I hope this will as well. I can't park the package at Myles' (son)house over night so It stays at the London Modifiers club house which is secure and in an industrial complex on the edge of town. My Pal (brother...almost) has just been a wonderful help with all of this!!! I think it will be going into storage until the Detroit show, Saturday. This whole thing seems to be getting very complicated and I will be very glad to be on my way home to Thunder Bay on Monday.....in the airplane.
    Take care,
    Ron

  6. Picked up the roadster this morning from the upholstery shop in Ailsa Craig to return it to London. I was really looking forward to seeing the tonneau cover as I have never been disappointed with Dave Picher's work and I couldn't be happier with the job he did for me this time. When Jim and I dropped the car off at his shop on Wed., we talked about what he thought and what I wanted it to look like, and he certainly delivered the goods. WOW!
Well, the package is now back at the Modifiers Club House for safe keeping tonight. The package goes into cold storage tomorrow morning after reinstalling the windshield and checking the anti-freeze etc.
It's a nice, satisfying feeling to be at this stage of the "Ghost Rider Project" !
    Take care, Ron
P.S. Dave used the existing soft top snaps at the rear of the body to secure that part of the tonneau cover.

  9. My son picked up the tonneau cover today from the embroidery shop in London and sent me this picture. I'm very pleased with the way the stiching turned out! The graphic is located on the right front corner of the cover and if the tonneau gets back on the roadster (which is in storage), this weekend I will add a picture or two of it, in place.
Sure looking forward to seeing the roadster again and taking it to Detroit in Feb.

So neat to see the shots on the ground!

This is one of those cars that gets me itching... in a good way though.

I like those Crafty B scale headlights. They are the scaled down versions that he built first. I have his very first set and am planning a somewhat unique application for them.

  14. Well, the tonneau cover is back on the roadster, safe and sound. As it is still in the hauler, it was a little difficult to get a good picture of it, as you might imagine. Anyway, here it is.

  15. My grandaughter sent me this picture tonight from her home in London. So far this storm has brought 39" on snow on the ground and it is predicted that it won't ease up until late tomorrow. I'm glad that the roadster is in a good strong building. At least I think it's strong ;-/
