Ronco/Vertex magneto

I just purchased a Ronco/Vertex magneto (28088) from a friend a mine,and I know its for a small or big block Chevy.

1. Who should I send it to to have it checked/repaired?
2. At the base of the magneto is a br*** screw cap, is this a tack drive?
3. Does the color of a cap mean anything (i've seen them in red, black,
and blue).
4. What does the number 28088 on the tag mean?

Why not try www.joehuntmagnetos.com and ask them. They rebuild or fix any Magneto's. The rebuilt a Spaulding Flame Thrower for me and it is just like new.
