While passing thru Phoenix John's Model A had a stange sound coming from the rear so we stopped at Arizona Street Rods to check it out.

Here is some pictures that show the damage that was done from the big fire they had 2 years ago at Arizona Street Rods.

After a quick fix to get John's Model A home we hit the road again and made it to Willcox, Az. for the night.

Day 2 of the return home didnt go so well. Texas was'nt good to the Model A. After shutting off several times it was dead in the middle of nowhere. I had to make a 125 mile round trip to Fort Stockton to get a fuel pump.

Back on the road again after 3 hours down we drove late into the night to get close to Austin. But around 11:30pm the Model A was down again in the middle of nowhere. At 2am John decided to have it towed to Kerrville. Ray and I drove ahead and made it there at 3:15am and John and Steve made it from the tow around 5am.

Day 3 of the trip with little sleep John and Ray worked on the Model A and had to order parts that had to be overnited. At this point I decided to head home and left Kerrville at 3pm. I made back in Jacksonville, Fl. around 6pm the next day. Total miles traveled was 5,951 miles.

Fantastic trip and photos to match! Really makes me wish I didn't live so close to Pomona so I could get in another road trip!

Sorry to hear about your troubles on the way home but as long as no one got hurt or had permanent trouble, it just adds to the journey and story.

I forget how lucky we are to live here in So cal and have all these hot rod legends here. I have to make a point to visit these shops more often.

Thanks for all these posts and allowing us to travel with you through this site.
