Bet this thing doesn't end up on a nice '32 frame...I can only imagine. Rot Rads don't generally end up on Deuce rails...
I just looked at the ebay listing and pics. For 2600 bucks for a gennie, steel '32 cab and bed, I don't think you paid too much for it at all. But please, whatever you with it, do it up right. Spend some time going through some posts on the HAMB for pics, ideas and suggestions. And talk to people here too. If you make a P.O.S,.so-called "Rat RdD" thing out of a '32 Ford, people here will hunt you down and kill you.....and rightly and justifiably so, too!!! This is the debate that never ends. I’ve gotta add though, that there are basically 3 different kinds of Rat Rods out there. There are those that are built well, and could p*** as a traditional style rod with just a little tweaking (i.e.: paint). Then there are the radical ones, that are just crazy (but once again well done) that don’t look anything like a traditional rod. The builder just decides to do something completely against convention and build the car they’ve always imagined. There is nothing wrong with either one of those. The third type are the scourge. These are the guys that take a mid 70’s truck cab, poorly chop it, and let it rust. Then they drop it on an s10 ch***is, put an SBC in it, build or buy a small 30’s style truck bed, and repo deuce grill shell and call it finished. Then they get bored and try to sell it on ebay for $30,000. Unfortunately SOMETIMES these guys have money or get a great deal on some REAL vintage tin, screw it up beyond hope and then try to sell it, or let it rot. I’ve owned several cars that the owner tried to rat rod and then got overwhelmed. After they get over the delusion of their asking price sometimes you can get a good deal that way…but be prepared to work for it. My 66’ Galaxie that I cruise right now is what the prior owner termed a rat rod. He painted it flat black, painted the wheels red, and attempted to do some pinstriping on it. The paint is all rattle can, and you can see through all of it. Underneath there appears to be perfectly good white paint. I’d been trying to find a decent buildable 60’s car to build as a cruiser for some time, and got a hell of a deal on this one. After I talked the guy down quite a bit. I’ve already had to completely rewire it, I’m about to have to redo the suspension, and the interior is gutted except for the seats and essentials. <o></o> If you want to build a rat rod, go ahead and do it, but don’t do it with a perfectly good body like that one. Sell that one to someone that has been looking for something nice to build and take the cash you get back and build you a half a dozen rusty rat rods. I see rides for sale all the time that I wish the “builder” would have realized where too nice for their intentions, but decided to cut apart anyways. <o></o>
How about we STOP debating all this ****? He gets it now! *Thank god* Lets stop complaining, and let him start his build thread! I cant wait to see this truck now that he gets what we are all about! I would also like to ask what his NEW plans are now that you have informed him... ?
For all of those who were worried about me ratting this thing out, here is your chance to save it. I just picked up another car project- its an addiction but I know everyone here knows that. I think I am gonna let this one go and make some room. If you know anyone that is interested p*** the info on and they can message me about it. Thanks! Jim
Come on guys- Step up to the plate. Lots of replies when this thing was gonna be rat-rodded- not a peep when it is available for sale for someone to HotRod the proper way. Posting up for sale in the other section. Thanks for looking!
Hey Fordguy- You got it. Shipping is FREE! I will help you load it on your trailer and wave as you drive away. Might even throw in 20 bucks for gas Thanks Jim
Wow. Some guys wait for years for the chance to own a real 32 and would treat it with the respect it deserves. Thank you for selling this project and not ****ing it up! Oh and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
