Ok..so the crank is out. Now I'm trying to get the valves out. My issue is that most of the valves are stuck or rusted in. Any ideas? I've been spraying penetrating oil on them everyday to try to loosen them up,but so far no luck. Thanks Wade
Flat head??? Dont start untill you have the correct long bar in your hand. Pry the guides down and pull the clips, reverse the bar and pop them out. If they are stuck, open the valve and put the tool down and whack the guide down to loosen it and get the clip off.
I have a bar that works. But the problem is that the valves are rusted stuck and won't pry up at all.
id try to soak them with some pb blaster for awhile. then might have to heat them with a propane torch to warm them alittle. or warm them first then hit them with the blaster. just be carefull it is flamable.
I have seen a block so rusted and frozen the valve springs were cut out with a torch, then the guides forced out from below. The motor lived to run again. If the valves are rusted closed, whack them down to loosen them. If they are rusted in the guide, try to get the springs off from below to get the valve out, then drive the guide down and out.
