..I shot a model A grill shell.... used the silver base(half can) used the Silver Flake(3/4 can) and layed down Bad ASS Candy Blue.... ....I am super happy with the results..... I then used a clear over top(full can.....) Sorry for the poor pics..... the flake is a good size and is nice for small jobs......But it lays down super well... just follow THE PREP AND YOUR GOLD.
Since were discussing FLAKE....I gotta throw out props to TUCK... Got this years ago and its one of my PRIZED art pieces from other artists......TUCK is one Talented SOB. Paint, draw, build and fab....AND a GEARHEAD to the Max! this WAS NOT ROTH Flake.... (Well maybe it was but NOT ROTH RATTLE CAN FLAKE) I just love it.....
I will pm him thanks! I needed to anyways, he was kind enough to let me and my friend tour his shop a couple weeks back when we were up visiting the area!
That's what i'm thinking. Even if it takes two or three cans each to do the '56's dash, and it comes out as good as it seems, that's still very reasonable.
So I assume you put the base down then the flake then a clear coat? I'm lookin for prep info on the site
From the pics, it looks like it's a bit flakier than some of the modern car metallics, or is that just the light/photo? I've used Seymour Paints' Sunburst rattle can flake and it came out looking like "real" flake, BUT it frequently clogged the spray tip, required a clear coat, and they don't make it anymore. How does the Roth can flow? Does it require a clear coat?
From my exp. the flake is not mini..not middle... kinda in between. I had no clogging what so ever. and yes... clearing is required. The Roth flake is much more heavy than modern metallics. I like it.
What have you shot it over as far as primer? How sensitive is it to say shooting over another rattle can primer?
NL/ I just used a over the shelf rattle can automotive grey primer..... I gave the rad shells a quick scuff, cleaned off the residue and primed them.
whoo yeah I am thinkin I might try an experiment with this stuff.... silver flake in the portions of my dash that need to be repainted silver anyways....I don't want to over kill it...keep the top of the dash black and just do the silver in a nice metal flake..
we will have to wait and see.... But I am sure someone will overkill it.... Maybe on onenna dem "rat rodz" <---- I put the z in there cause it's extra rebellious
