Roth was a awesome "Carictor !"< My word for him!, All though he hired a number of other art guys to do much of what he sold n took credic for{ they were better at the art part then he was in many cases.,-was the smart thing to do/as he had. I was doing pinstriping and names on cars plus airbrushing "Wild Car "T"shirts" in the same time frame of late 50 n early 60s. Under my art name "The Bat" I had two cars, that I'd put in the indoor shows, only one at a time{ had to drive one or other},28A Bobtailed Hotrod, n "J" full custom, were I'd also do ,n sell shirts. [ Florida ] But my art was one off only*,not the much more bizz smart way,of screen printed/then just add a little color n maybe a name. Roth n an Mouse was doing screen thing ,along with a few others. I was a teen, and doing it my way*,thinking one off art was more art*" Not really knowing, that didn't make much def. to those buying into this part of hotrod n customs, plus surf things happenings..
Thanks, Dana. There have been a number of threads on Big Daddy Roth, but thought a little side thread on this facet could garner some views. If you have some old artwork, you ought to post a thread. Better to hear it from you than someone trying to document it without the first hand knowledge.
RodStRace ; There maybe one of my old posting about doing wildcar T shirts. On HAMB some were ? After about 1965,I was too bizzy with new wife/house and my little speed shop,to do much art! I did only a few for old buddys, who ask in latter years. By the start of 2000s,I'm old and my straight lines have started to look like Barbwire,I make my self try an push passed that, when ask. But I see each mistake I cover up when doing any art. Last new shirt was for a old high school buddy who ask a few years back,to do one with his newly restored old car.
