"I remember trying to find a kids coffin for the back of the Princess, so I went to this real exclusive uptown coffin maker to buy one. The head honcho says "What'cha want it for?" I told him and he refused to sell me one cause he was afraid I was one of those hippies tryin' to make a love wagon. So as I'm walkin outta the place this young kid (turns out to be the owners kid) comes up to me and tells me to hand him 75 bucks. This kid is with the program! He knows who I am and that I'll do a bangup job on whatever I put down. He says, "Pull in the back alley and slow down." I do as he says and as I slow down I feel this thud in the back and there's this really farout kids coffin. That's where the gas tank and battery reside"

WOW, (cough, cough) this post has some dust on it, (cough)
Yup Restoring the Princess was a real thrill and honor. I will soon be restoring Capt.Pepie to its former glory in my new shop in KCMO.
And yes I am still with IRON HORSE Magazine with the new editor Todd magnum T.I.

So I've just gotta ask.... I've got this in my Roth Collection. Is this inscription to you? Are you George LeBlanc (sp)?

I saw the Druid Princess up close and personal, in fact I walked right under it last August/2008 ! It is currently parked on a lift above the Road Agent at The Flying A Garage (future site of America's Car Collection) in Winnemucca, Nevada. It looks great Fritz ! As I mentioned, it is in good company along with a **** load of Roth's personal memorabilia. If you are toolin' down I-80 in Northern Nevada, stop in Winnemucca and see it for yourselves @ The Flying A Garage 500 East Winnemucca Blvd. Winnemucca, NV 89445 (775) 625-3555. The current caretaker, Ralph Whitworth is a fellow HAMBer. Let's support his effort to preserve these icons for the general public's viewing.

-If you would like to see a few more shots of cars from the collection, click on my avatar to go to my profile page and check out the album ***led "Flying A Garage". Hope you enjoy the trip... I did !!!

Chaz, yup, that inscription was to me back in 82.. I sold my Roth kit collection and silk screens to Mike Goyda quite a few years ago.The silk screens had in very small lettering,"Licensed Dist. George LeBlanc".on them.I had all the cl***ic Roth designs from the sixties. They just didn't sell at the shows unless he was there. I used to airbrush the florescent colors into them.

Hey, George...you don't remember me, but I met you quite a long time ago. You were pinstriping a Big Rig for Manny Bastiao, in Linden, NJ. I did the custom bodywork for Manny at the time, on his Les Cove built sectioned Merc, and his 56 Merc, 64 Chevy, etc. I had just come from working for John Pazsik, for MANY years.
I am also friends with Vic Collins. You sold him a shoebox Ford with Chrysler, or Buick quarter panels on it. You were good friends with Vic's Dad, Ed, who had a hobby shop, and sold old car models.
Just an update, if you hadn't heard...Vic is all grown up, and now has quite a collection of old cars, done up as Kustoms. He and I recently finished building a clone of Barris' Kopper Kart. If you do a search here, you can see pics of it....or you can Email me and I can send you some. Vic still lives in Rahway, but my shop is farther south, in Howell.
Glad to see you're still around and digging custom cars!

I remember you and I remember working for Manny. Vic stopped by about a year ago and showed me the pictures of the Kopper Kart. Back in the seventies we did alot of dealing in model kits. I'm still in the Hobby Business bigger than ever. I have a store here behind my house selling Lionel Trains,Carrera slot Cars,Model kits, etc. The Biggest hobby store on Staten Island. I still do alot of truck lettering, pinstriping, and signs as well. I just don't leave here anymore. I had my Island Princess car over at the Whiskey Cafe last summer one Saturday night ,which was the first time it was out since the Wheels of Time show alout six years ago. I saw Vic there also. I still build vintage stock cars when I have good help. I have four 37 Fords and a 37 Plymouth, all flathead stock cars. Good to hear from you. George.
