*****SOLD FOR $200,000******* *******JULY 31, 2005********* While cruising the epay came across Ed "Big Daddy" Roths, Rotar $75,100, 28 bids, and reserve not met. Expensive peice of history. Hope it goes to a good home that displays it properly. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4564496121
They should get rid of it.It is not being cared for or stored properly.Look at the condition of the garage it is in. What a DISCRACE to Ed Roths art!!
Yup, pinstriping on the nose is missing, the front lenses are different and have a different number of screws in them, the seat upholstery is different. It's possible that the changes were made by Roth when he still owned it, but I want to see some do***entation, not just a ****ty 50 word description on eBay. If they really expect to get 100K plus for the car, you think they could have spent an afternoon to pull the car out, take some good pictures of it, and write up a respectable description? There isn't one clear picture showing the whole car in their whole description, and good to know it was kept in a damp old ****hole garage for the past 30 years. Too bad. Makes me feel good that it's going to be sold to someone who most likely will care for it better than this dumb*** did.
Moriarity sold the car a couple of yrs ago, He says this guy bought it from the guy he sold it to. One of the sales was for $30,000 don't know if this is what Mark got or the other guy. Either way it is a shame to see it in this dump all covered with dust!! Some people have no respect for history and just look for the profit!!
i cannot believe the **** hole this thing is being stored in.....that being said,.... FOR FUTURE REFERENCE IF THERE IS A HAMBER WHO ACTUALLY HAS A ROTH CAR AND DECIDES TO SELL IT, PLEASE DO A FKN BACKROUND CHECK! OR JUST KEEP IT SIMPLE AND GIVE ME FIRST DIBS ON IT, I WILL BUY IT..... ..IM SERIOUS..................REALLY.. ...HEY.... WHERE YOU GOING..........? I AM SERIOUS.....
if anyone here is serious about this car let me know. Im only 40 miles away from it and get a bit better pics and info. just thought I would put this out there..
I didn't get any detail pictures come up at all, except fot the one with Roth at the top. The text says the paint is in great shape, as if it's the original paint! It was in primer when I saw it at the Laguna Museum of Art in '93....?
I saw that thing in Cobo Hall years ago. Roth was running it and one of the propeller blades came off and went right up to the ceiling and broke some lighting.
I can't beleive that such a potentially expensive car is being kept in that lean-to of a garage. Quick question: did it actually work? Or at least move under it's own power?
so the guy is lying or has been lied to about the paint. plus, i'm curious. How does the two triumph engines start? do you just start one and the other will crank? and is it a kick start? i want to see the twin engine set up.
Apparently that blade or a part of it also hit someone and that was the last time Roth ran it a show. From what I understand he had it under some sort of remote control
Roth did change stuff on it. The seat change may have been one of those changes. I think its a change for the better, even if not original. Wondering why when it got repainted why they guy didn't pinstripe it back to gennie? And yes I am dumbfounded on the storage situation. Thats why I posted this up. Such a piece of history, and its hidden in some rat infested, termites holding hands lean too.
Now, see?........You guys ***** if someone uses fake patina, and then ***** about REAL patina?!?!!? That's a genuine old garage, not a new steel building painted to look old. There's no plastic termites, and mouses made in tie-wan.....it's the real thing! It's probably even got the period correct odor, comprised of urine, used oil, a dash of antifreeze, a fart infested chair, stale beer, and a hint of burned something. IT'S A TRADITIONAL GARAGE. If it had been in a pristine garage y'all'd been calling the owner a gold chainer. Sheesh!!!! Buncha ol' ladies.... Mutt
The guy probably is a gold chainer. just a really cheap *** one. (won't have the pinstriping put back on, or finish up his garage.) and he's looking for major profit.
Looks like a sea-doo. I love Roth's stuff, but like with some of Barris' stuff one's gotta ask, "What were they thinking ?"
Shame on you Rat Finks! Especially you "old timers". Rotar was built in Roths garage. Probably looked just like the one its stored in now and should feel right at home n there now. How many 40 plus old customs are still 100% original right down to the stripping? So, take off some chump change for the missing stripping and call it even. We miss you Boss Fink! RIP
