if you like chili and i mean HOT chili, stop in alburquerque it is Green chili roasting season , and chances are if it burned on the way in you will burn your ***hole on the way out. garcias (new mexican food) is a nice place to eat and it is on route 66. when you are coming in through santa rosa there are alot of old hotels there for photo ops. hopfully you will be coming through alburquerque during our sunsets, they are beautiful and worth staying around for. if you need anything pm me tom
It sounds that you are having a grrreat time!! I know you have cause we drove the route last year from chicago to LA.. It was "once in a lifetime" trip. We spend two weeks on the 66 and met some coolest and dearest people... Drive carefully and enjoy !!! It's not the destination - but the journey that counts...
Cool man, we got to stay at the Blue Swallow Motel in Tu***cari back in March. Cool proprietors..........
While in Flagstaff you could take a little day trip to Jerome, the most inhabited ghost town I ever saw! Just west of Jerome on Alternate 89 (89A on your way to Prescott) is 12 miles of nothing but grins and giggles. 156 turns (some of them are hairpin) on this highway with "danger falling rocks" every mile or so make it a really fun drive. There are T-shirts there in Jerome that claim you survived that drive. We now have ours!! A friend of ours who lives just outside of Phoenix sent us a couple earlier this year. Now since this is all about Route 66, this would be a good day trip for ya, cause darn it all to heck, you would just have to turn around and come back the way you came to resume your 66 trek from Flagstaff!!! Have a good time. Carrie
Cool man, a few more miles.........can't wait to see the coverage. Be safe, and give JB a squeeze for me.
We expect a big album of pictures , I did it fifteen years ago, it's supposed to have gotten really bad in some spots since then.
Reading this post got me and the Wife motivated last weekend, so we did about 60 miles of 66 that we hadn't yet here in Illinois in her daily driver. Last night we travelled 15 miles of it in our A/RPU to and from a cruise. It was the first time our old jalopy had been on the Old Road since we built her up from s****s. Thanks for the motivation blasted!
Dammit Doc get my sedan off that ploe...Dig the pics and what a trip. Gonna see ya in Irving on Saturday?
I hope you don't mind blasted, but I'm stealing some of your pics for my screen saver. They'll have to stand in until I can get shots of my own.
Doc - welcome home bro............so tickled you two had such a blast. I love the pics, and have many of the same......hope you had a piece of Ugly Crust Pie in Adrian, Mid Point Cafe............That is some cool stuff, man, can't wait to hear more about it.
