Well, I guess I'm officially getting old.

Instead of going to the bar and drinking too much beer and flirting with old women, or young women that look old, I got started on this thread and finished the whole thing. What a trip, great memories for all of us.Thanks.

Road trips with the kids are the best. We did so many that one Friday when the kids got home from school they asked, "Are we going anywhere this weekend?" When I replied that we weren't they were relieved. They just wanted to chill out for once. Hahaha.
Good luck and blessings on your latest adventure.

  7. Re-torque the head bolts and hit the bricks!

Happy motoring out on the freeway, which is already in progress.

7D27FFFC-BA4B-499C-8FC7-49522CF8072A.jpeg A hour into Tennessee the car just died. No spark. Thinking the coil went but ended up being my electronic ignition. Thank god I kept the original coil and points in a box underneath the floor in the back. Was able to get her back on the road in about 20 minutes. Easy fix, But I look like a hero for my family. Lol

I have never been left on the side of the road with points ignition. I have spent many hours with dead HEIs. I threw them all away! The problem it trying to find a parts store with points and condensers. I keep a tune up set in the pickup and on long trips a complete distributer under the seat.
A friend threw his Mallory HEI in Prudhoe Bay when he was working on the pipeline told me some day you'll wish you had never heard of that SOB. He was right.
Roadside repairs are a big part of my memories of our trips. My dad was a mechanical genius! He did in fact pull off some amazing fixes. Good luck with the rest of the trip and remember there is no shame in getting help when the family's safety is involved.

    7CD7E948-E0E7-4CEF-B5D2-23400F3134DF.jpeg Checked out Nashville, and had to stop at the American Pickers place. Also a pretty cool car collection. Plus a lot of good food spots. 48FB154D-C827-472D-8BFD-EBE3446884BB.jpeg 0EC504AD-3269-4098-B2CB-5933A893F7C7.jpeg B83D956C-1ED9-4A48-AA0F-10547B6266CC.jpeg BDD1849F-C3C6-4FEA-A702-1293F933EF19.jpeg 47C92838-58FF-4B68-BB85-28B2F97FF9DF.jpeg 7DB96418-FF8F-48D7-A33C-27B88ABAAD8B.jpeg 51AA4D4B-26A8-4356-8A9D-FF31C162AD96.jpeg B1FE2521-5B72-46E3-9B64-DE16F8B59B4D.jpeg 8A051C45-9FF2-4B4B-8A58-846ED7E364B0.jpeg E64B0BDD-2AEF-4C0A-80BD-303D6999EA96.jpeg 8DB38216-9F06-4EE0-A243-9A706D0A4630.jpeg 6197D641-F241-43D3-A381-DF8C93B5964B.jpeg 4E2F68FD-19F9-468B-AA84-D8A213B9906E.jpeg 2413E8D6-08BF-4516-9FE9-AB866DEC0238.jpeg F684D65F-E67A-4479-B4DC-85136EB1DC92.jpeg

Hit up the museum in Nashville. After that we had the best milkshakes of my life for lunch. Highly recommend this place. A must stop 822A1EB3-8848-484F-B2F9-FF2D2CF038C9.jpeg 3AE4B239-C147-453C-9897-A719C1460D37.jpeg 2200BED9-2AFA-4F9C-9587-07E87C606F15.jpeg 1C1A8CD2-AFAE-4213-BC97-91BD547904B3.jpeg A5AE7795-3168-4103-A7C2-43C4E896A224.jpeg E79E3312-DFA1-47DC-ABC0-E6797D0DA991.jpeg 5908BDF3-BF15-45EF-BEDC-DB3EA2515D7C.jpeg F5DA23E5-BA3C-403E-9CDC-05511786A75E.jpeg 1C48C999-F405-4469-A057-A574D95CB797.jpeg 9A5A626B-1D72-40BB-95FD-02E5877224A4.jpeg 01F56BF3-171B-452B-90C0-90AA61517AF9.jpeg 710E736A-DF2D-494F-8984-CA05E2A07122.jpeg A86E74BF-7706-440A-9770-34A0E74D1B1A.jpeg 7A0DADBE-0AC3-4A32-AA39-5232CB909115.jpeg

If you're still in Nashville drive down Broadway after dark...

I'll be back down there sometime this summer and I'll make it a point to try their milkshakes.

We did! Very cool... we cruised it twice. The Kid Rock place was bumping. A lot of drunk people yelling they liked my car. Lol

Broadway; after dark; drunk people; if you have the first two you'll get the third.

Great trip (again). I wish I could go back 60 years and you be my dad.

You know I thought about that, but the real issue in this kind of operation is Mom. If momma don't like road trips, esp. in an old station wagon, guess what? It ain't gonna happen.

When I was growing up our family made a couple trips to Hackensack for lake fishing and staying in cabins. We thought it was great. Mom, not so much. And that, as they say, was the end of that.

Your point is valid but if Dad doesn't want to do it, you'll never know whether Mom would be OK with it or not! My Dad would never have done this because to him a car was simply a way to get from point A to point B. :(

WOW those Pickers must be rolling on money if they can keep all those cars just hanging around. Yea I know they think of them as investments but that is a lot of cash tied up.

But never mind you and your family had a great trip. :)

  22. Looks like another great trip! Thanks for taking us along!

No pictures of the 66 drive in in Carthage mo The drive on 66 from Carthage to Webb city really shows how narrow the early road was.

We lost a headlight... had the boys replace it. They’re are finally starting to pull their weight. Lol Also, at the parts store there was a bad ass Two Lane Blacktop clone. Had to check that out. 21ED024E-CA13-47B6-B0DE-C34996A6DB99.jpeg 825D6360-78C5-4E69-BC24-3B41CBD84450.jpeg 5BA7CDA6-A59D-47D3-A1D6-10D7003A394F.jpeg 5A1C8360-4AF2-48DA-B5EC-23B0A1E9C98D.jpeg
