I believe the Buffalo wires he ran were 20", but may have been 19". I know I have heard it before, but can't remember.

I too am pulling for an update....been too long.

I would love to have pictures of my T sitting next to Multi's when it's completed.

  2. My Dad bought 5 snap ring Buffalo wheels from Multy in '86. They were part of the stock Multy ran on his roadster, and they were 20" wheels.

But do you know what size the tires were? Coker lists at least four 20" tire sizes for early cars.

I'm not sure what tire size Multi ran but 30 x 3 1/2 were a common Model T size.

They should be 4.50 x 20" tires. I suppose you could use 4.40 x 20" too, but every set I have been seeing, like these...

...are 4.50 x 20" (yes, these are 21", but the rest is true :D)

I love those knobby tires. Oddly, I couldn't find 440/450-20 on Coker's website, only 475/500-20. Where would you get the smaller ones, do you think?

I'm trying to get a comparison of overall diameters with an eye toward capturing the look using a 19- or 21-inch Ford wheel.

The T 21" wheels use 4.50 x 21" tires and the A 19" use 475/500 x 19" tires standard. The tires pictured here in my last post are the same size I have on my T....the look great.

As far as Coker goes....it depends on the wire wheel I guess...there were so many: Buffalo, Houk, Hayes, Pasco, Rudge, Dayton....just to nake the major makes.

I would look at '26-7 Ts and '28 to '31 As....that will give you the best visual.

this is one cool thread, this car and Clayton's T are the inspiration for my own 26/24 T roadster build...
can anyone tell me if these tyres are still available? would love a pair for the rear of my roadster...

  10. I had a set in 16" I sold last year Shaun, think they came from Coker.

Thank you Shaun for the kind words :) "Multi"s T was also the inspiration for my T.

Sadly the Wards Riverside "Power Grip" tires are are not in production for anything other then 16" wheels....but I'm not even sure those are still available. I have an original set of 21" "Power Grips" for my T.....for when ever I get the bug to go dirt track or beach racing.

    ....perhpas the next ROG? :D

Oh yes, that would totally happen! :D. I can't even begin to relate how awesome that would be.

Does anyone else have any more info and/or photos of this car?
I saw this photo in another thread, and I haven't been able to get this car out of my head since.

I also found this photo of it while searching.

Would love to see more photos if I could. Would be great to see more color ones.

Cretin here is a thread posted by member Spooky whom met some individuals that were there when the pics your asking about were taken. He posted some gems. This car you are posting in your querie is the 'Multi' T and that is what this thread is about. Jimmy B confirmed it in that thread and the link is below with some info on where it is now. It is owned by a Hamber. I had thought it was a T known as the 'Gilmore' T but was corrected.

Thanks @Stogy I know it is the Multi T which is why I posted on this thread. Your first link is the thread where I got the first picture I posted, definitely some cool photos there.
I hadn't seen the thread in your second link, a few more photos there, so thanks for that.

Was hoping the owner could come back on this thread since they haven't in a while and give some more info. Was also hoping more photos would surface.

You're on the HAMB so I guess both GNRS cars a finished? Don Lang owns the Multi T, and you should be buying all your needed T parts from him. I see him every year at Hershey, progress is slow on this car, but they are moving along. I'd like to see progress photos too. Hope to see you at the GNRS. Bob

  21. This could be a great thread, its an important piece of history, but dead photos at the start, and the current caretakers failure to participate just kills it.
    Such a shame.

Sorry to hear of Hank's passing, but that's not the car I was talking about. The car you posted is the Downey brothers old T, built in '32. I know Hank also owned this one too, and if I remember right he got the car from George Hood. I don't remember how George got it but it was once owned byBill Harrah. Nice that it went back to George.
Most don't catch the extended running boards needed to mount the fenders farther forward to center the wheels, car has a suicide front axle, 18 inch plymouth wheels like Gabby used later on his T then his Chevy touring.

This was his hill climb car and if I remember right this engine was also in a sprint car which was the fastest T in the land, at one time. I think someone here on the board now has that hill climb car?
It's been a long time since I had the pleasure of meeting Becker and Hood, those guys are Model t royalty, so my facts are a little fuzzy on that fastest T thing.

flyin -T, Thanks for mentioning that the George Hood '27 T was once in the Harrah collection. I'll see if I can find a photo of it in one of the Harrah auction catalogs. I think it was white with green fenders at that time, also seam to remember it was an infield car at some race track in the LA area at one time. Bob

Yes it is the same car, I think the picture I posted is an old picture from a Vintage Ford mag, maybe. When I met Hank and George, I was in the Long Beach T club, his hill climb car was striped and hanging on a wall in the garage...and there was also a wood sign that was painted for his sprint car, Foxy Lady. Thank you very much for the picture of it, been racking my brain trying to remember its name since yesterday.

I think it was American Rodder back in the late 90s early 2000s that did a feature on the Downey Brothers roadster. I'll see If I can find it.
