I haven't come down from the clouds yet!!!
I HAVE JUST HAD THE BEST WEEKEND OF MY ENTIRE LIFETIME !
Beautiful weather. The flatty traveled to and from the show for a total of 18 hours with no problems. Got to meet alot of Hambers too!!!
Went to the auditorium for the 1930 Brooksville RPU giveaway. No room, stood outside so I could hear the numbers being called. 1.. the first number..then 00...ok time to check my ticket number. Then a 4...my heart starts racing..0.. yes.....then a ...3. Ok somethings wrong here, I tell myself. My ticket number. I thought was just that.
I pulled my ticket out and yes everything fell in line.
My heart starts racing profusely....... Somethings wrong...I think.... This can't be my number... I don't ever win anything.. My heart now is coming out of my chest....My legs wont move. My brain is racing......Something's wrong.....
    I can't win this...I think.......
    I don't deserve this........
I can't catch my breath... I tell myself.... Rick
You need to be screaming. .... I can't.....
Nothing is working........ Something must be wrong.
Do I have proof of ownership of my 37 in the car...I'm thinking.... Something must be wrong.........
Is it in my wifes name... I think somethings wrong...Is the registration even in there.....
hell I haven't seen it in months... I can't win this...
I think...something's wrong..... Something WILL GO ALL WRONG..
They take my to the 37.....
I'm trembling..... I pull out my registration. Yes its in there...I'm thinking.
I give it to the gentleman.....he looks. yes....37 ford...
yes the registration is correct sir you are a
proud owner of a 1930 Brookville steel covette powered Roadster Pickup..!!!!!!!!!!

I go absolutely nuts. I hugged every stranger I could grab.
    Unbelievable....
Why is it the hotrod gods have given this to me??
I havent come down yet.. For those that were there...now you know why I didn't act excited. [IMG]
What a absolutely beautiful, powerful truck. Sorry Denise and the hamber group meeting on Thursday. I did pass and beep my ahoogah. Did you guys see me??
We were finally able to talk an old 76 yr old hotrodder with cerebral palsy to come along with us. His health held up well in the cool weather. We wanted him to bring his 32 deuce with an 20,000 Ardun along he finished last year but he was afraid he would convulse on the trip. I had him in the coupe when I passed you guys and he was getting pretty tired so I took him back to the hotel.
I couldn't believe this! Total price is 60,000.00.!!
That evening I had the car setting a the Hotel lobby entrance and got to meet Norm Grabowski !
He is one of the original Hot rod designers from the 50's. He created the Cookie Car from the 77 Sunset strip Fame.
I was looking for something for him to autograph and couldn't find anything cool. Then I realized I had a beautiful new steel roadster pickup to sign. He signed MY DASH !!!! I think the price of that vehicle went up another 25,000.00 ! [IMG] [IMG]
    An Unbelievable Lifetime experience!!!!!!!!!!!!
    ....something is wrong...pinch me!

    Thats good news, congrats.

2 major car shows in two months and you couldn't find the time to come over to say hello? Very strange. Seems like you would have liked to come over and get hugs and pats from your HAMb buds then "strangers". BTW, we met up both Friday and Saturday at 12 noon. "Passed and beeped" but didn't stop??? Oh well, to each his own.

Congrats again on winning the truck. I heard you had a for sale sign on it while still at the Nats. Good luck selling it.

    Yes, your absolutely right....
I must admit. I am very bashful. I promise. I will make it up. And yes, I think alot of all the Hambers.
Otherwise I wouldn't be here to share my knowledge and happiness with all of you. Please forgive me.
I promise to not only meet you guys. I will host the next get together!! My bashfulness over took me.

Glad to have met Grumpy on my visit Saturday but missed the So-what crew and Denise. You guys must have ducked undercover during the rainstorm. Sorry I missed you guys and more importantly the cookies. Probably wasn't any left by then anyway. Did get to see alot of cool Hamb cars in the Garage grown area ! Maybe next year or at the Hotrod Nationals in Louisville.

    Congrats on the win.
I know how you felt to an extent.
A few years ago, I won a cash prize at the Starbird June show.
It is hard to believe, your heart races, but your feet and mouth do not work.
    Again, congrats.

Wow, I didn't realize it was you. I also was in the hallway so I couldn't see who it was. I now know the owners for the last 2 years. The guy last year was gonna buy my model A (until he won the car).

This year I won a Iditit steering column and a $100 gift certificate for some hot rod parts.

Thanks for having all your ducks in a row! usually you have to sit there while they draw 3 or 4 numbers! This is the first time I have been there and the first number is actually the winner!

    Well, yes and no.........
    The visual workmanship is outstanding.
But on the way down bullshitting, I promise young buck, here on the Hamb.
That if I won that car. I would buy one of those leather skull hats and a scarfs. He would then drive it home.
I had to tow it home......
The car was not running very well at all on Saturday
evening so we decided to check out the ignition and timing.
We worked 7 hours on Sunday trying to get it running and didn't even get to the show that day.
Another excuse why I didn't hook up with the Hamb Group.
    I know Denise...just excuses.
    List of problems found.
    1. Leaking oil at the fuel pump to block seal badly
    removed and resealed it
    2. Leaking oil at the rear intake valley area. Bad intake seal.
    3. The dual point Mallory was stabbed incorrectly , tooth off, and needed removed.
    4 Points were adjusted incorrectly.
    5. main coil wire and leads were all loose to coil,
    6. plugs were fouled. Removed and bought new ones.
    7. Readjusted timing which was off. The car detonated unbelievably during hard acceleration and would not idle at all in gear.
    8. And finally the stake which broke my heart...Because I desperately wanted to be true to my promise of letting him drive it home.
At idle after a fast increase of idle, we would hear a clinging sound that we could not positively locate.
I have a feeling it may be a spring lifter.
And one of the old hotrodders we were traveling with came up with a quick check to gauge how hot the spark and fire in each cylinder is.
He told us to take a drip of water and let it fall on each exhaust pipe near the ports and watch how fast it evaporates and boils.
Well the two front cylinders barely dried up the water when the engine was hot and the rest of the cylinders would immediately boil the water off.

That is awesome.... I can only imagine how you must fell. We had a little luck ourselves and won the NSRA New Product of the year with the software. I was there all week long and NEVER STEP OUT OF THE BUILDING, that is how busy it was. I missed meeting everbody (unless they came by the booth and even then I never really got much time to talk). I really like that rpu and wouldn't mind having one of my own. Congrats on the win.

    Funny you should mention that.
That night, while taking everyone on small trips and having the celebratory drunkfest that evening during the burnout session out front from the locals.
We were talking about sanding the body down and spraying it with a garden hose the that night to add alittle patina for Sundays show and tell. Boy wouldn't they have shit [IMG]

Do you have to be a NSRA member, or just be on the premises with a registered car?

You have to become an NSRA member to get into the show anyway. It is a pretty decent deal if you register really early.
