A number of years ago I found out about a fellow, in Florida I believe, that could make replacement rubber gaskets if you sent him an original (ish). Well when my computer crashed a few years back that info went away. Now I’m wondering if any of you know of this guys or our Elite HAMB Detective Squadron could find info for me. Effort and solution GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
What are you making this gasket for?? Here’s a jalopyjournal “google” search that should keep you busy for a while https://www.google.com/search?clien...t4CegQIHBAB&biw=393&bih=735&dpr=3#lfId=ChxjMe here’s a list of hamb forum posts on this subject. https://www.google.com/search?q=rub...HBTAuMS44yAcigAgA&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp
I’m trying to have a gasket made that will work for the trunk lock housing on a ‘56 Meteor. Basically flat but it has a little raised bead that conforms to the shape housing. Rarer than the mutated chicken that gave birth to the first chicken that had hens teeth!
Have you taken a look at the vinyl door edge material? You'll have to trim one side (a PITA but doable if you make a fixture), you can get a pretty decent emulation with that stuff.
Do you have a picture of the piece or maybe a link to a picture ? How big is the little bead you speak of ?
Go look at any '50s-up Ford car chrome side mirror that still has a gasket under it. That's what it looks like.
